Student of the Gun Radio
The terrorist attack at the concert hall in Moscow was horrible, but we have to examine it and learn from it. What can American citizens do and how can they prepare to deal with the threats that we are facing? During our SOTG Homeroom, from SOTGU, we will address a deadly shark attack. What could have been done differently? Could the victim have been saved? Whose responsibility is it to be prepared to save a life? Do you need an LPVO on your home defense rifle? During our Tech Talk from EOTech Inc. we will consider that question in depth. Thanks for being a part of SOTG! We hope...

Do you have your medical gear on you at all times? If not, why not? We bring you a story today that might hopefully make you reconsider your stance on having medical gear readily available all the time. Because as Prof. Paul & Jarrad were on their way down to Texas, they were directly behind a rear-ending on the highway, and instantly THEY became the first responders. Speaking of Texas, SOTGU came to Texas and held the Martial Application of the Pistol class this past weekend! It was a fantastic event, and we’ve got an after action report for you to enjoy. And hey, if this conversation...

Prof. Paul and Jarrad are on the road to Tennessee to teach you hippies some classes! So to bide the time, we’re giving you the full, uncut interview that we did with Ken Hackathorn, addressing his internet breaking opinion about weapon lights. But not only that, as he and the Professor reminisce and lament about the State of Policing in the country today, and what it would take to get either of them to sign back up for that job. Spoiler Alert: You can’t afford it. So yeah, we have Ken Hackathorn on the show today, an internationally recognized trainer, to follow up on the discussion...

info_outline Wargaming the American Apocalypse: What Can You Do? | SOTG 1230Student of the Gun Radio
No intellectually honest person can argue that we have allowed the United States of America to be put into a terrible, dangerous position. Hard times are coming. The question we address is what can each person do about that? We will talk about controlling those things that we can control. During our Tech Talk from EOTech, Professor Paul will consider flashlights and weaponlights. What is the difference between Lumen and Candlepower? Does it make a difference? Also, we have an SOTG Homeroom sponsored by Student of the Gun University. Paul and Jarrad will consider some controversy...
info_outline When Acorns Attack: Florida Deputy Shoots his Boot | SOTG 1229Student of the Gun Radio
A Florida deputy sheriff unloaded his pistol at his own patrol car after being startled by an acorn that dropped on the car roof. It gets better. The supervisory sergeant joined the deputy in shooting his cruiser. Oh, did we tell you there was a handcuffed suspect in the car? Certainly there are some lessons to be learned here. Another Ohio Sheriff has come forward to address the information and intelligence that was shared with senior law enforcement officials. info_outline God, Guns & Guts: Protecting Houses of Worship | SOTG 1228Student of the Gun Radio
You might not have heard of the recent attack at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas. We are going to focus on the lessons we can learn about how to protect houses of worship. During our Tech Talk from EOTech Inc. we will consider the “dot in the circle” reticle on the HWS optics and how you can use this purposeful design to your advantage. Also, during our FrogLube tip of the week, Jarrad will tell the best way to lube it up and get the...
info_outline Invaders Attack Cops, Laugh About It | SOTG 1227Student of the Gun Radio
The United States of America is a joke to the invaders who are infesting our nation. Witness the recent incident in New York City where 5 illegal invaders attacked two police officers. The criminals were released without bail and then they laughed and flipped off the news cameras. During our Tech Talk from EOTech Optics, Professor Paul will address optics on handguns and the common issue of “I can’t find the dot.” How do we fix this issue and make the most of your gear? info_outline Reporting from SHOT Show 2024! | SOTG 1225Student of the Gun Radio
SHOT Show 2024 has arrived and we’re already cracking skulls and taking names. Well not really, but it’s been a good time and seeing all kinds of cool stuff. Like from our friends at Hi-Point, showing off the ever-popular YEET Canon. The biggest event so far has been the Kahr Arms Book Signing! Where we parked our butts down at Booth #13627, signed some books, and chatted with y’all! We went to the Beretta Range Day, and got to play with some of their latest and greatest innovations in firearms. And while we were there, Jarrad may have found his new calling… Listen Louder, hippies!...
info_outlineAn Oregon teacher put the lives of his students before his own and confronted and disarmed a student who brought a gun to school. This act of bravery flies in the face of the anti-gun crowd who say that teachers cannot be trusted to make life or death decision regarding the safety of children.
During our Brownells Bullet Points discussion, Paul and Jarrad consider magazines. We all know that the magazine will wear out over time and need to be replaced. Is there a time that magazines can be repaired, and how can we do that?
For this week’s SOTG Homeroom from Crossbreed Holsters, we consider the importance of being able to be dangerous on demand. A young father lost his life because he was not able to be dangerous on demand and one police officer is alive today because he had the training and carried the gear. We have lessons to learn.
Thanks for being a part of SOTG! We hope you find value in the message we share. If you’ve got any questions, here are some options to contact us:

From crimeresearch.org:
A copy of our newest report is available here. Copies of our annual reports from 2014 through 2018 are available here.
Summary
The number of concealed handgun permits has increased for the third year in a row. The figure now stands at over 18.66 million– a 304% increase since 2007. It’s also an 8% increase over the number of permits we counted a year ago in 2018. Unlike gun ownership surveys that may be affected by people’s unwillingness to answer personal questions, concealed handgun permit data is the only really “hard data” that we have. Sixteen states are missing from the data because people there don’t even need a permit to carry.
