Dr. Rachel NP created The Nurse Practitioner Show as an avenue to share evidence-based practice strategies to implement translational research in the clinical setting. The goal of The Nurse Practitioner Show is to improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes. The Nurse Practitioner Show strives to advocate:
improving public health
health policy efforts
advance nursing practice
Podcast episodes are published every 2 weeks, approximately on the 1st and 15th of each month. The episodes alternate between clinical or health policy updates, nursing continuing education units (CEUs), and interviews with other nurses, nurse practitioners and healthcare clinicians. About Your Host - Dr. Rachel Danford Silva DNP, APRN, NP-C, FNP-BC, RNC-OB, C-EFM
Dr. Rachel NP is a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has over 20 years of combined nursing experience and is diversely experienced with a comprehensive background in the areas of medical-surgical, physiatry, psychiatry, obstetrics, women’s health, developmental disabilities, retail health, and as a primary healthcare provider across the lifespan.
As a Registered Nurse (RN) graduate of Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College in South Carolina, she has earned certifications in Inpatient Obstetrics (RNC-OB), Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM), and as a Childbirth Educator. As a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing graduate of Felician College, she is dually certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with both the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). After earning her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Chatham University in Pennsylvania, she became a nursing educator as an Adjunct Professor of Nursing at Felician College in New Jersey. In addition, she has been inducted as a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nurses. She has worked in hospital settings and private practice as a RN and FNP along the East Coast in South Carolina, New Jersey and New York.
Dr. Rachel’s clinical interests include family healthcare with a focus on health promotion and disease prevention. During her spare time she enjoys reading, traveling, learning about diverse cultures, international medical missions, geocaching for hidden treasures, and spending time with her friends and family. She believes nurses should be empowered to provide evidence-based healthcare and improve patient outcomes. For this reason, she founded Accessible Healthcare Institute LLC and The Nurse Practitioner Show Podcast.
