The explosive intersection where racism and technology meet is inundating our headlines as bystanders become accidental activists. “Social media has given power to the people but it’s important we use that power in constructive, empowering ways,” says award-winning filmmaker Nicole Franklin, a St. Louis native. "I knew one day our dirty little secret about Ferguson would come out."

From that Missouri conflagration to the most recent pool party debacle in McKinney, Texas, police are on notice–and not happy about it. “There are thousands of good police officers for every rogue cop,” says Nicole. “My job as a filmmaker is to bring diverse voices to the conversation.”

Nicole is also an accomplished writer, speaker and editor who covers the topic of young black men and love through her work on EPIPHANY Inc.’s Little Brother film series, produced with J. Tiggett. Clips from Little Brother may be screened at LittleBrotherFilm.com. Nicole’s website is www.nicolefranklin.com.

“Shift happens right where you are,” says LeGrande. Join the conversation at www.getboldtoday.com and share your personal story of triumph with the hashtag #getboldtoday on social media.
