Brian and Carrie Grasso are personal trainers who puts emphasis on proper mindset training.

Brian has been in the fitness industry for 20 years and works with professional athletes. Along the way, he realized the bulk of his work had a lot more to do with emotional and mental stability. Carrie, on the other hand, was a clinical counselor also for 20 years. She got disenchanted with the work and decided to become a personal trainer 15 years ago. After just three weeks in her new career, she found out the irony of her work: Personal training had more to do with counselling than actual training.

Both of them are now what you call mindset specialists. They decided to be in this business because mindset training is the largest void in the fitness industry and that there are very few who understand the intricacies of mindsets.

Today, Brian and Carrie share their experience in their line of work, their various strategies on how to get your mindset focused and ready for the task at hand, as well as their daily mindset training routine.

"You cannot out goal-set, outhustle, or out-hardwork an unsuccessful mindset.” Brian Grasso

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • People self-sabotage their mindsets endlessly and they don't realize it.
  • Our minds are more programmed towards the negative than the positive.
  • We are chronically comparing other people's highlight reels to our editing room floor.
  • We have to be prepared to wrap our minds towards what a fitness journey means.
  • People overestimate what they can accomplish in a short time and underestimate what they can accomplish in a long time.
  • They teach us the exercises that help rewire the brain and renovate the unconscious language people use.
  • Count your wins. Every single day you are achieving. Don't lose sight of those forward steps.
  • We are conditioned to pay attention to the big moments, not the small ones. The little wins add up. We have to look at the incremental changes we do every day
  • Don't eliminate the negative thoughts, but acknowledge them and flip the language. It's called owning the perspective.
  • Even injuries shouldn't be an excuse to allow negativity to govern your thoughts.

Key Takeaways:

  • We have gravitational pulls toward negativity and failure. The last thing those people need is a fitness professional telling them they need more ambition, willpower, and motivation because it is subtly telling them they're not good enough.
  • Simplicity + consistency = success
