Welcome! Today’s guests are the husband and wife team of Heather and Damian Dube. Their background is in bodybuilding, and they are experts in hormone health and fat loss. I met them at a health conference in CA and knew I had to have them on the show!

Heather and Damian cover the following topics:

  • Heather and Damian met in a gym when Damian offered her training and nutrition advice on healing from ACL reconstruction surgery. Before long, they were married!
  • They both worked in sales and marketing in Sacramento, CA, but their lives were very stressful.
  • Heather experienced many symptoms of health issues, visited many doctors, but was not properly diagnosed until much later.
  • Her fatigue became severe, and she saw no relief until she visited a natural health practitioner and started to make changes.
  • Heather was later diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Disease, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, autoimmune issues, pancreatic toxicity, and tested 50% positive for lupus.
  • As a couple, they experienced severe economic and financial losses that took more than five years from which to recover!
  • Common symptoms that signal autoimmune problems are allergies, breakouts, rashes, eczema, hair loss, irritability with spouse and children, and digestive problems.
  • The turning point for Heather was when she made the choice to put her body first; these changes included walking away from a stressful job that threatened her health and life.
  • For Heather, it was a shift in mindset to be 100% committed to change and NOT to simply accept the way things were and what the doctors recommended.
  • In our society, we have been made to believe that we need so much more materially than we really do. Sometimes we can regain health by simplifying our lives.
  • Heather made nutrition #1 in her life and simplified her lifestyle, letting go of a lot of things that weren’t essential.
  • Heather and Damian prioritize their food and supplements to the point that they spend more than twice as much on those as they do for their housing—and that’s for the two of them and their two small dogs!
  • “To be well, it’s NOT just the food on your plate, but its’ the mindset, values, spirit, stress, habits, and skills. Live a different way if you want a different outcome.”
  • Everyone should know their “breaking point” in dealing with stressful environments, and sometimes, that can stem from childhood issues.
  • There are three main points of advice from Heather and Damian:
    • Recognize the symptoms that your body gives you.
    • Align your values with the decisions that you make for health.
    • Recognize the patterns that will put you back in your unhealthy situation.
