Jefferson Exchange -- September 26, 2012, HOUR 1
Stop Gillnets-Or Not
It's not every day that the leaders of a ballot measure campaign announce that they are suspending said campaign, just weeks before the election. In fact, there's evidence that this has NEVER happened. But while Measure 81 remains on the Oregon ballot, and a yes vote would stop gillnet fishing on the Columbia River, the leaders of Stop Gillnets Now stopped their campaign and threw their support behind an effort by Oregon's governor to find another solution. You'll hear the details.
Our weekly ritual is renewed, as we throw a pair of topics on the table--in theory, unrelated--and open up the phone lines and the email box to gather your take on either or both of the issues. It's VENTSday on The Jefferson Exchange, and you participate by calling 1-800-838-3760 or 541-552-6782 or emailing JX@jeffnet.org.
THIS WEEK, give us your thoughts on:
1) 99%? 47%? Where would you identify yourself?
2) California moves toward same-day registration (not this election)--your thoughts on voter ID laws?
