Geothermal in the Lower Klamath (Basin)
The Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge has struggled for years to obtain enough water to keep wetlands wet and waterfowl safe in their natural habitats. An effort to drill wells to tap groundwater went awry when the water came up too hot for refuge use... but the event provided an opportunity for a geothermal power plant on the site.
