WeVideo

WeVideo is the complete, feature-packed video creation platform for today’s learners. The platform is built with classroom, school, and district-wide use in mind.  Jessica says, “WeVideo is browser-based video editing software, with options for green screen, webcam recording, and screen recording. It integrates seamlessly with Google Drive, making it an easy to use tool for students to use to create and share their work.  Digital Storytelling enfranchises student voices, so being able to put editing software in the hands of every child in my classroom is powerful. I use WeVideo to provide students with opportunities to tell digital stories about core curriculum, as well as their own lives.  My students record video reflections about their learning, write and create short narratives from the point of view of literary characters, produce PSAs, and construct informative artifacts of their learning using WeVideo. These types of projects function as both formative and summative assessments, as well as modalities of self expression.”

Jessica Pack teaches middle school in Palm Springs Unified School District, located in the Southern California desert.  Currently, she teaches 6th grade Language Arts and Social Studies, as well as 6th-8th grade ASB and video production. In addition to being a classroom teacher, Jessica is an adjunct faculty member of DIGICOM Learning - a nonprofit dedicated to promoting and supporting digital storytelling in classrooms. Jessica has been integrating digital storytelling into her curriculum for the last 13 years and continues to view it as an instructional pillar of her classroom. 2014 California Teacher of the Year, 2015 CUE Outstanding Teacher of the Year, Global Minecraft Mentor.
