Podcast #402: Is Your Hiring Process Killing Your Business?
HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION Welcome back to another episode of "No More Excuses," where we tackle challenges head-on and empower you to take charge of your success. As a DiSC® certified business coach, I’m really excited to dive into today’s topic, one that's critical for any business: hiring the right talent. Over the years, I’ve had clients who just seem to have a revolving door of staff. And, although I am NOT a recruiter or an HR expert, I work with business owners to identify what’s keeping people from staying. And one of the BIGGIES is onboarding and training processes and procedures. If you don’t have an HR company in-house or one you use when you need it, this is the time I would HIGHLY suggest you do! Listen – or watch if you're here already – as I share some ways how I helped a client remember where she had found her staff years ago! And, it's working again! It doesn't always have to be in the same industry! It's no secret that building a dream team can make or break your business. But why is finding the right people such a challenge? Firstly, it's about identifying YOUR needs and values. [This is where my expertise in DiSC® comes into play!] Secondly, there's the daunting task of sifting through countless resumes and conducting interviews, hoping to find that perfect match. [I have a client who has done this herself for years. She did use an employment agency for a short time, however their options seemed to not be working.] So, unfortunately you must find an agency that’s a good fit and focused on the “right talent” for your industry as well. Listen in today to hear what a colleague of mine who runs an employment agency told me about this topic: "Hi Sandi, yes, one of the biggest challenges is defining what "the right talent" means for your specific business. It's not just about skills and qualifications; it's also about cultural fit and alignment with your company's values." It's clear that hiring the right talent requires a strategic approach and a deeper understanding of your business's unique needs. And is doing the process of hiring the BEST use of your TIME? Well, sometimes it is the "do it or pay for it" concept, but it's also about seeing what else you SHOULD be doing! Now, let's hear from YOU, our Badass community for your Badass Challenge for the week. I’m asking you to share your experiences and challenges with hiring the right talent. Yes, you have to listen in to get the challenge... and once you complete it by sharing in the comments or emailing me, you'll be entered to win a FREE Business Analysis! Let's look at what's working, what's not, and how to build upon the success you have [I promise, I won't just tell you what's wrong!] Remember, building the right team is essential for your business's success. Don't settle for anything less than the best. That's a wrap for today's episode of "No More Excuses." Thank you Badasses, for tuning in. Don't forget to subscribe, rate, and leave a review. Until next time, BeBadass! Cheers! Sandi

Podcast #401: What Are You Sticking With?
HAPPY MONDAY [NOW THURSDAY] MOTIVATION! Welcome back to a special anniversary episode of "No More Excuses". I'm publishing Monday's podcast TODAY (aka Thursday), because it was EIGHT years ago today that I started this podcast! But before we dive into today's theme, let's take a moment to celebrate this milestone! Cheers to all of you! From wherever we were in 2016 to where we all are today... I'm grateful for, and appreciate each and every one of you who has joined me on this incredible journey! Eight years of a MOSTLY weekly podcast! At the end of 2023, I had a lot of shit going on, and I missed a few weeks here and there, but hey - I heard from you, and well, that KEPT ME GOING! So today, let's talk about “STICKING WITH SOMETHING”. I've personally now had 8 years of podcasting, and over 10 years of coaching and 29 years of being a business owner... I guess I'll stick with it! Whether it's a business venture, a personal goal, or a creative project, staying committed in the face of challenges is no easy feat. But why is it so important, and how can we cultivate the resilience to keep going? Sticking with something builds character and resilience. It teaches us discipline, perseverance, and the value of hard work. And, most importantly, it's the key to achieving our goals and realizing our dreams! Listen in as I share more about this topic and how to keep going when shit's just getting tough! AND assign you your BADASS CHALLENGE!

Podcast #400: There's Always MORE!
HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! Welcome back to another episode of "No More Excuses". Today, I want to discuss the topic that's near and dear to my heart—why it's crucial to keep learning, no matter where you are in your personal or professional journey. Listen in as I share a Badass Moment of the Week from a client who shares WHY she – after decades in her industry – added yet another certification to her list! And, from two others how their ability to understand the importance of continuing education has helped them grow personally and professionally! But, most importantly, ALL of them are learning so they can help others! It doesn't matter if you're a seasoned professional or just starting, the journey of learning never ends. It's not about staying relevant; it's about staying ahead. But... yes, BUT what gets in the way of attending that class or conference or signing up for a new course? MONEY? TIME? AGE? And I'm sure plenty of other BULLSHIT EXCUSES! Identifying WHY you want to gain more knowledge is key! Like anything, "If it's important enough, you'll find a way. If not, you'll find an EXCUSE!" What is something you'd LOVE to learn more about? What's stopping you? Continuous learning is crucial to overcoming common barriers. And helping people step out of their comfort zones and take chances – like I discussed in last week’s podcast! Listen in! Especially for the challenge at the end! Until next time, Stay BADASS! Cheers! Sandi

It's easy to stay within the safety net of what we know – as I like to call it, “Your comfy slippers, favorite jeans & t-shirt world”, but growth and success often lie just beyond that boundary. So, how can you overcome the fear of the unknown and start taking those leaps of faith? Listen in today as I share a few stories; one from a client and one listener and some of mine... even one that cost me $$$$! It's not easy to take those risks - even if you can calculate the results or have help! There's really no other way than do what Nike® says to do and JUST DO IT! Fear can keep you from doing the simplest tasks like hitting SEND on an email that can help build your brand and share your expertise with clients and prospects. These hidden time-suckers are eating away at your bottom line and arm you with three badass tips to whip them into shape. Here's the thing, you've got a business that's running, but it's like a car with a flat tire – sure, it moves, but it's a bumpy, slow ride. They lead to errors, delays, and a team that's frustrated and can deflate your team's morale. It doesn't matter if you're a sole proprietor or a multi-million-dollar business! Processes and procedures help you reduce inconsistencies, mistakes and lost time fixing shit and handling angry customers! Listen in as I share some examples of how I've helped clients identify broken and missing processes & procedures, and how by creating – AND USING THEM – has helped them increase productivity, reduce mistakes and create happy customers! It's one thing to have them, it's another to FOLLOW them! We've all had a staff person, colleague – or someone at home – ask "How do we do this?" or continuously do something differently than you need it done. THAT should tell you something is wrong, missing or broken! Share a process or procedure you put into place and has helped you succeed! Until next time... Be BADASS! Cheers! Sandi

Podcast #396: Confronting the Financial Fears of Business Ownership!
HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! Welcome back to another episode of No More Excuses where we dive deep into the world of entrepreneurship and business success and create alignment for personal and professional growth. I'm your host Sandi Ballard, The BADASS Business Coach™, and today we're tackling the topic of the dreaded financial trifecta. So, buckle up, because in the next 10 minutes, we're going to turn those fears into fuel. First up, lack of access to capital. Moving on to the bane of our existence – insufficient cash flow. And then let's talk about consistent revenue growth. And it doesn't matter if you're just starting your business, or have been in business for 20 years, it happens! And those fears have caused many people (some were clients) to quit and go back to a traditional j-o-b. I've also had clients that took on a second form of income to help during slower times, which can many times lead to a secondary stream of income (just make sure they're aligned!). If any – or all – of those make you cringe, then listen in to dive deeper, hear some of my stories, and for three tips on how to overcome the fears. It can be scary, and that's why I always make sure my clients have a strong relationship with their financial advisor, CPA or even a financial coach to keep you stay (or get out of) debt, potential tax trouble and most importantly, IN BUSINESS! What are your biggest financial concerns you've had, and how'd you overcome them? Or what ones do you currently have? I've been an entrepreneur for almost 30 years... trust me, I've had them all! Comment or email me: - or if you need deeper financial help, I can connect you with a financial professional as well! OR if you ARE a financial professional, what tips do YOU have?! We've ALL been there! Shit happens! You just have to find the help you need to succeed! Cheers! Sandi

Podcast #395: What Will You CHANGE?
HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! Welcome back to another episode of "No More Excuses" where we dive deep into the world of entrepreneurship and business success and creating alignment for personal and professional growth. Listen in today as I'm tackling the topic of making changes for the month of February. Last month, I discussed strategies to start the year strong and set the stage for success. Now, it's time to take a closer look at where you stand and make the necessary adjustments. It's essential to remember that change doesn't always mean abandoning what you've been doing. Instead, it's about fine-tuning and optimizing your approach! If a particular strategy isn't yielding the desired results, consider tweaking the variables rather than scrapping the entire plan. Just remember, February is not just another month; it's an opportunity for refinement and progress. Embrace change, review your strategies, and propel your business towards even greater success. CHANGE is Only Painful... if You RESIST! What will you CHANGE so you can GROW? Share in the comments, and if you like what you hear, please leave a review! Cheers! Sandi

That’s a question I ask ALL of my clients this time of the year! Asking you that is meant for you to pause and reflect on the WHO part of your year. And, like many of my clients, it could be many people, in different areas of business and life or it could be one. That part is up to you! Why is this important? Yes, recognition to the person, people, or group, but more so allowing you to realize the WHO in your world that is supportive of you and your efforts! It's not like I’m suggesting you get rid of people who DON’T help you or just don’t stand out in your mind, but this is sometimes eye opening about WHO is in your world and how they have helped you get to where you are today! We all need cheerleaders, but we also need people to align with your dreams and goals, not just say, "hey great job!" There's something different about the person or people that come to mind when answering that question! Listen in and then make YOUR list! And then, it probably is a great idea to at least let them know how much they meant to you, and HOW they helped you, as sometimes whoever has helped you, may not even know they have or that it meant that much to you. Comment below or email me and just an FYI, this is the last podcast for the year – I’m taking the next two weeks to recoup from hand surgery, enjoy the holidays and prepare for 2024, as changes are coming in the new year to the podcast! Jan 1st episode will include two badass special guests! So make sure you are subscribed and be ready for: NEW YEAR and NEW CHAPTERS! Cheers! Sandi

Podcast #388: How Will You Finish?

Podcast #388: How Will You Finish?
Happy Monday Motivation! Welcome back to my podcast, No More Excuses! As we begin December, we have a lot of distractions with the holidays. This month can be stressful and it can steal your focus from you and your ability to achieve your goals. And... I’m not the only one talking about how to “Finish the year STRONG!” This is the time of the year when I ask my clients – and I'm asking you – not just “How will you finish the year strong?” but also, “What will you do DIFFERENTLY to help you FINISH STRONG?” Consistency is a big part of success, but the more important thing – as I preach all year long – is to check your progress and see how you’re doing. With four weeks left in the year, how will you finish strong? How will you finish strong if you are not making progress? That’s where finishing and doing something DIFFERENTLY comes in. Think back to how you finished last year. Did you achieve your goals? Or are you working on the same goals you had from last year? If that’s the case then, do you really want to finish the same? What will you CHANGE to make sure you finish the year DIFFERENTLY? Listen in as I give you examples of common personal and professional goals and how to determine whether you need to do something differently or not. What’s worked and not worked? And the million-dollar question: “Are you open to trying something different?” Are you satisfied with where you are, or are you settling? Are you already thinking to yourself" “There’s always next year!” The people who tend to say that are the ones who just give up at the end of the year. My challenge for you today – and this week – is to really look at where you are with your goals and identify what is least ONE thing you WILL DO differently to end the year STRONG AS FUCK! and a little differently! As always, please feel free to post or comments, questions or email me at . I’m here to help! I’d love to hear what you are doing DIFFERENTLY to finish the year S.A.F? Have a great week. PS: Watch for changes with the podcast next year! Including special monthly guests, getting back to my more edgier-self, promos just for you listeners, and a website dedicated just to this podcast! Cheers! Sandi

Podcast #387: Turn Your Impatience into Motivation

Podcast #387: Turn Your Impatience into Motivation
Happy Monday Motivation! Welcome back to my podcast, No More Excuses! A couple weeks ago I did a talk and social media posts focused on “patience”. What came up during that time, was learning whether you “want” or “need” something immediately. When we’re impatient, we can get demanding. And impatience – as I mentioned in my talk – stems from frustration, stress, and fear. When you’re “asking” for something to happen faster than normal, quicker than the person anticipated, or even before the deadline, WHY? Do you really NEED it NOW? Or do you WANT it? It doesn’t matter if it’s business growth or getting something done at home... WHY does it need to happen NOW? Listen in to hear me ask you PLENTY of questions about YOUR impatience and where it stems from! So many times our impatience stems from something we allowed or didn’t think through. How did we get to where we live in such an impatient world? Wouldn’t you like to have a bit more calm in your life? I know shit happens, but again, most of our impatience we bring on ourselves. This podcast is about MOTIVATION, and many times our motivation gets lost along the way. Listen in, identify where you are most impatient, WHY and during the holidays, take some time to practice turning your IMPATIENCE into MOTIVATION! The MOTIVATION to do MORE. Get MORE. Achieve MORE! Feel free to connect with me to discuss! Cheers! Sandi

Podcast #386: Why Are You UNGRATEFUL?
Happy Monday Motivation! Welcome back to my podcast, No More Excuses! Thanks for being here for listening and sharing this podcast with others. Yes, I asked you WHY are you ungrateful?! That may seem a little counterintuitive, considering this week is Thanksgiving, and most people are asking what you are thankful for! But, I have a reason for this, and I guess you’ll have to listen and understand lol! With everything I’ve talked about over the years, we all run into moments when we are ungrateful, afraid, stressed, sad, frustrated or even pissed off! And as much as I have you review your goals, and adjust your plan, you need to do the same with your emotions and how things are going because that’s a direct effect on everything – including your business! So think about... WHY ARE YOU UNGRATEFUL? If you’re feeling ungrateful, why? If you’re feeling pissed off why? If you’re feeling frustrated or overwhelmed again why? And how is that feeling affecting you personally and professionally? So that’s the concept of today’s podcast. Listen in, work on the activity I give you, and then share if you are struggling with the WHY or HOW, contact me at . And then have a very INTENTIONAL and GRATEFUL Thanksgiving! Cheers! Sandi

Podcast #385: How Can You Inspire Others?

Podcast #385: How Can You Inspire Others?
HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! Welcome back to the weekly podcast, No More Excuses! You can also view the video on my YouTube channel! This week isn't necessarily focused directly on business ownership or leadership, but what it is about, is what we can do as people – as humans to inspire others. It COULD be through our business, the company you own, the products or services we sell or support and even the people we lead. What would you inspire them to do? And how? I'm sure some of you may think you don't do anything important enough that would inspire someone. Or perhaps you're thinking I am a nice person. I am a good human, but how does that inspire someone to do more or to change a habit? Well, obviously you'll have to listen in today as I give you many ways that you could inspire someone! If you have staff, how do you inspire them to give you their all? How do you inspire them to work late or extra hours? How do you inspire them to STAY and, well perhaps inspire other staff members? There's a lot of little things each of us can do that will inspire someone to change a habit, take tht first step to do something amazing, to get out of a situation, or just to carry that "pay it forward" type mentality of inspiring others as well. Share in the comments or email me at how you've inspired someone or perhaps how someone inspired you and how it's changed your life! Cheers! Sandi

Podcast #384: What's it COSTING You?
HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! Welcome to the podcast No More Excuses! I am your host, Sandi Ballard, The BADASS Business Coach™ Today, I’d like to discuss COSTS. Bills, expenses, fees – all of that come at us daily in all areas of our lives personally and professionally. The cost of running a business. The cost of DOING business. The cost of having a home, car, vacations, kids, it just seems like it’s always going OUT and the game is how to get more to come IN, right?! But today, I want to dig in and discuss what’s on our To-Do list and... what it’s costing us. Even more specifically, what it’s costing us by NOT doing what’s on the list. We all know that life in general costs us time and money. But what about our reputation? The respect you get from others? I don't know about you, but I know I've lost respect for people by their actions, something they said, or well that they did NOT do what they said they'd do. We all have things on our to-do lists that don't get done, or at least right away. Recently I asked a client about this exact thing. I asked her, "What's it costing you by NOT getting those things done?" Listen in today as I talk about the COSTS of NOT doing what you need to do. Only you can determine the PAIN behind that answer! As "You know what you need to do, but… right?" So, if you have things on your to-do list that you just can't seem to get to, ask yourself that question... "What is it costing me, but not getting it done?" How is it affecting not just my life, my business, but others as well? And as always, if you need help Let’s make sure we know what we’re doing, and living a life that doesn’t cost us because we’re NOT doing something that WE KNOW needs to be done! Cheers! Sandi

Podcast #383: It's Time to Move!
Happy Monday Motivation! Welcome back to my podcast No More Excuses! Today and this week on social media, I want to discuss MOVING! What’s moving in your world? What needs to? Movement is important in life and business. If things aren't moving, what can get you moving? Passion and excitement for what you do? Money? Just the thought of Achievement? If things ARE moving, are they moving in the right direction? If you’ve listened to me long enough, you’ve heard me say that our personal and professional lives affect each other. So, if shit’s going sideways in one area, it’s hard to not have it affect the other. MOVEMENT! We need it. Especially going in the right direction! What’s moving in your world? What direction? Take time to look at how things are going. How do you feel about your life – personally and professionally? Listen in as I talk about how to check on the movement, how to get it going and keep it going! No more excuses, right? And as always, if you need help Let’s all get moving in the RIGHT direction! Cheers! Sandi

Podcast #382: Mistakes Happen
HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! Welcome back to the weekly podcast, No More Excuses. Mistakes. Ugh! I hate them. I’m a “recovering perfectionist”, and it’s still hard to see that mistake sometimes. We all make them personally and professionally. • Personally, it can be something so silly like choosing the wrong check-out line or missing your exit. [And yes, I’m sure some of you are thinking you chose the wrong person to date or marry lol. Been there.] But with all of those things, what did you learn? Perhaps to pay more attention? Or to ask more questions or to not make hasty decisions! Like failures, mistakes happen so you can learn. Yeah, it can be painful and expensive, so what are you going to do about it? A big shift for me years ago was to understand that things happen for a reason! You'll have to listen in and hear how that shift happened! What do you do when you make one? Especially when it’s professional and includes a client, or something more public. Sometimes it’s hard to admit you made a mistake. It hurts the ego and self-image. It also, like I mentioned, and you’ve probably experienced, it can cost you money and that hurts as well! Trust me, I’ve been there MANY times! Making mistakes creates the opportunity to learn as well as for growth. Listen in as I share two big mistakes I made, one was in front of 250+ people and the other cost me THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS! What about you? Have you owned a mistake… big or small? What did you learn? Admitting you’ve made a mistake can help you be respected more, and viewed a stronger leader, because you are HUMAN! One of my favorite sayings is: “Slow Down to Speed Up!” I’d love to hear from you! Share a mistake, what you learned and how you can SLOW DOWN to SPEED UP! Post in the comments or email me at And don't forget to sign up for one of my FREE group coaching sessions! Cheers! Sandi

Pain comes in many forms: Physically, mentally, literally and figuratively. Physical pain – I’ve had a shit ton of that in my life. Who hasn’t stubbed their toe 1,000 times or hit their head getting in or out of the car?! Mentally we’ve probably all been there as well with loss of a loved one, confusion, frustration, feeling overwhelmed. Mental pain is what we deal with the most in life and business. Pain in business shows up when there are challenges with sales, staffing, legal issues, even motivation. Perhaps you’re just launching – or thinking about starting a business and are experiencing the pain of not knowing what to do first to get going. Or you could be on the other end of things with growing pains and how to handle the success! No one wants to have pain of any kind, but that’s just part of life! LISTEN in today as I share the different kinds of PAIN and how as a business coach, I help clients identify and eliminate it! Podcast #380: Balance is Bullshit
Happy Monday Motivation! Welcome back to the podcast No More Excuses! Today I want to discuss "Balance"! So many people, especially business owners, desperately search for it... the mythical creature called BALANCE. It's like searching for the Loch Nest Monster! Have you ever found it?! What is balance anyway? An even distribution... of what? Uh, has life ever been entirely balanced? NO! And that's why when people come to me and say, "I need to find more BALANCE in my life." I reply back with, "BALANCE is BULLSHIT!" There is NO such thing, so please stop searching for it and getting stressed out when you can't obtain in! We could line up five identical business owners, and all would have a different idea of what they think “balance” is. Try thinking more about "ALIGNMENT"! Whatever you need in your life should ALIGN with your goals and values! Nothing is ever entirely in "balance," but it sure as hell can be ALIGNED! Listen in – or watch on YouTube – as I share some stories about what causes people to feel out of alignment, how I helped some clients find more in their world, and how you can too! And, if you feel you've found that perfect alignment, share with us on how you made it happen! If you can't find that mythical creature, schedule your free 30-minute call today! I wish you a very ALIGNED week! Cheers! Sandi

Podcast #379: How Strong & Clear Is Your Communication?
HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! Welcome back to my podcast, No More Excuses! Today and this week I want to focus on COMMUNICATION! Yes, as a DiSC® certified business coach, communication is always in the agenda for a session with a client. Strong, clear communication can make or break a sale, an interview, and even screw up your relationship with staff, vendors and other colleagues and partners! We all get flustered or even have a “loss for words” sometimes, but taking the time to think or just pause can help! But, for the LOVE of all that's good and holy, please don’t say, “That’s a GREAT question”! I guess you'll have to listen in to find out WHY I, and my podcast coach, Jen Edds says to NOT say that! Good and effective communication is so helpful in being able to sell both yourself and your idea or product. Do you have to take the DiSC® assessment to have better communication? NO! But you should try something! Today you'll need to listen closely as I give you three tips on ways to check and improve your communication. I also share with you a new technique I recently learned called "Chunking"! A lot of tips, and I'll dig deeper into each one the rest of the week on my social media! But I also would love it if you would share your tips in the comments section! And, if you DO want to understand your communication style, click here for your FREE assessment: Share with your staff or business partners too! Hey Ladies – if you are in Orange County, on August 18th, my colleague, Nancy Singer and I are facilitating the interactive workshop, “Thinking on your Feet. How to shine under pressure!” Check out my social media or DM me for the link! I look forward to hearing from you! Podcast #378: Do You Have the Three D's for SUCCESS?
HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! Welcome back to my podcast, No More Excuses! Today I want to discuss the THREE D's For SUCCESS. Why? Well, here in Huntington Beach, CA, the US Open of Surfing! Being dubbed as “Surf City USA” means there’s always some sort of surfing going on, and this week is a full week of lots of it! However, this weekend also brought something I had never seen before – the Nitro Circus! It’s a group of crazy-ass, BADASS dudes – although I read there have been some women – doing crazy stunts on dirt bikes! I got thinking about both the motorcycle stunt guys and the surfers. I mean ALL athletes in general, are no different than BUSINESS OWNERS and GOOD LEADERS! They all need the trio: Dedication, Devotion and Determination. Listen or watch the video on YouTube as I discuss not just the definitions of each, but how "The Trio" helps you, and why you need ALL three to succeed! Then follow me on social media all week to DIG DEEPER into each one and find out IF you have all three, and how it helps you grow personally and professionally!

Podcast #377: Are You Motivated?
HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! WELCOME BACK the the WEEKLY PODCAST, No More Excuses! I am your host, Sandi Ballard, The BADASS Business Coach! Last week I did a LIVE video from a golf outing my colleagues and I sponsored a hole at. It was fun to get everyone’s opinion on what MOTIVATED them. From kids to challenges and good humans to just their job or business! Seeing how their clients, customers, or patients are being helped, are excited about their progress, how their products and services help them… and yeah, even if you’re the owner of a restaurant! How satisfied does your food make your customers?! Motivation. It can escape the best of us, and yeah… me as well! I believe that if you’re feeling unmotivated, it’s due to a couple things: Overwhelmed, stressed, burned out. You aren’t doing what you love! You’re bored or perhaps feel unimportant. I’m sure there are other reasons, but those are the two that I hear the most. It was surprising that the people I interviewed never mentioned these motivators: money, recognition, power, passion and meaning. I personally am motivated by feeling SIGNIFICANT. Which means I am an integral part of someone’s life and success. I am motivated by seeing people making progress, achieving the goals and success they desire! What MOTIVATES YOU? If you’re in that “unmotivated” world, look around what’s going on IN your world. Your environment, meaning the people, the place, the mess or organization. What needs to be changed and HOW can you change it? Watch or listen in today to hear what MOTIVATES a client of mine, AND I also give you an activity to do to help you get MOTIVATED! Contact me to help you find and stay MOTIVATED! Cheers! Sandi
