MINDFUL PAUSE PODCAST
Hi there soul friend! Growing up, I was often labeled as "too emotional" or "too sensitive," which led me to believe that my sensitivity was my flaw. But through my spiritual journey, I've had a revelation – my sensitivity is my superpower! It's what led me to discover my true calling as a self-love coach, guiding others on their paths to self-discovery and healing. Wabi Sabi is a beautiful Japanese concept that celebrates imperfection and impermanence. It's all about finding beauty in life's irregularities, rather than striving for unattainable perfection. What if instead of striving...
info_outline Stay Grounded: Tips for Finding Peace Amidst Life's ChaosMINDFUL PAUSE PODCAST
Hey there, If you're feeling a little frazzled and ungrounded, I hope today's podcast and love letter for your Soul helps you stay centered to yourself and what truly matters. Last week was a whirlwind of foggy chaos: Two sick kiddos at home meant sleepless nights and the added pressure to "get it all done" in less time. 🤯 Picture this: I strut into a yoga class, only to realize in the lobby that I'm rocking just my bra (not my sports bra). Talk about a fashion faux pas! And to top it off, the next day, I hit the gym with my leggings on backward. GET. IT. TOGETHER, AUDREY! After...

Hey there, beautiful soul! Just returned from a quick Florida vacation, and let me tell you, it was like a sip of pure sunshine for my spirit. There's something rejuvinating about reconnecting with friends who knew you long before diapers and bedtime stories took over to remind you of who you were. When I got back home, a friend texted me: "I forgot how funny you are!" I excitedly showed it to my hubby, exclaiming, "See? I've still got it!" These past three years of motherhood? Phew, they've been quite the rollercoaster ride! Amidst the chaos of diapers and...

info_outline One Tweak A Week to Reach Your DreamsMINDFUL PAUSE PODCAST
Today is a simple mantra: “one tweak each week” Last week, I started working out again (after not really moving my body much for GULP, 4 YEARS!). I had 2 babies and a pandemic and a move/remodel. But my baby is almost 3 years old, and there’s no excuses, plus I feel like crap! So I signed up for Orange Theory Fitness and made a commitment to myself to work out for 5 days. Last week was my first week, but I ate like crap - we’re talking 5 indulgent meals a day at about 3000 calories. So, although I was working out like an athlete, I was eating like a lumberjack! I...
info_outline CompletionMINDFUL PAUSE PODCAST
Today’s episode is about completion. HUH? What does this have to do with self-love or mindfulness? When we don’t complete our tasks, it chips at our self worth. If we have a running list of all the things we need to do, this ever growing list can feel overwhelming, anxiety inducing and stressful. Completion of our tasks builds self worth, confidence and relieves stress. Journal: What projects or tasks have I left unfinished? (this could be as simple as finishing reading a book, or sending out an email to a larger project or dream) What...

I just finished my book! Well, my 2nd draft of this book (that I started 11 years ago!?, and just recently picked it back up). Life is always speaking to us…are we listening? In today’s intention and reflection, I’ll guide you to look back at your challenges and see what Life was trying to teach you. What are you experiencing NOW that you can learn from? I finished my book with my own reflection of my challenges: my divorce taught me to learn to love myself so I could find love again burnout and the uncertainty of a major career change taught me to really know myself and find my...
info_outline LUXURY + ABUNDANCEMINDFUL PAUSE PODCAST
This week’s podcast is about giving yourself permission to experience more abundance and luxury AND to do something that feels luxurious each day. Jake and I finally celebrated my birthday night out in a luxurious hotel nearby. We went to dinner and sat by the hotel fire and connected. It was a Monday and we arrived to the hotel at 5pm and left at 9:30am for work, but that one night felt very luxurious. Maybe it’s because we haven’t had a night away from the kids in 4 years or maybe it’s because I’m a mom of a 2 and 5 year old, and “luxury” these days is removing my toe...
info_outline Tune into your Truth (meditation)MINDFUL PAUSE PODCAST
Last week I had the opportunity to be a guest speaker at a weekend long writers retreat, and you know what I learned? We are not alone in our fears and we have the same universal desires to feel seen, connected, signifiant. What’s the ONE thing that gets in the way? Our Itty-Bitty-shitty-Committee! I’m writing about it in my book. I speak and teach alot about quieting it? WHY? Because if we listen to it, it will sabotage our dreams, demolish our self worth and just keep us stuck in scarcity and fear. In this week’s MINDFUL PAUSE PODCAST...
info_outlineThe other day I was multi-tasking because that’s the job description of being a new mom. You will do everything, be everything, and do it all leaving you frazzled and looking haggard in the process. Pay: nothing.
On this day, though, I was multitasking like a champ. Hunter was on the custom ladder Jake made for her watching me chop vegetables and stir the mushrooms simmering no the stovetop. I was like an octopus, one hand stirring the pot, then another arm to the oven to check the vegetables, then another arm would reach out to hunter and feed her. All of this while I was facetiming with my mother-in-law. I deserved the multitasking star.
I took a break to change Hunter’s wet diaper to return to a smoky kitchen. When I checked the oven, I found I had left my ovenmit to roast along with the vegetables. The mit was black and seriously smoking.
My multitasking could’ve caused a real disaster. No star for me
As humans, we’re smart. Our brain can handle multiple functions.
Right now, you’re listening to this podcast, maybe you’re driving, and thinking about what you want for dinner, reminding yourself to not leave the ovenmit in the oven like a moron, you switch lanes, wonder whether to turn this podcast off and change it to Oprah’s Masterclass – I mean, who doesn’t love Oprah, a friend texts you in which you respond with both hands on the phone and your knee on the wheel, actually this is a pretty good podcast – you’ll stick through the next few minutes, you decide to make it easy on yourself and not burn the house down and get take-out, all while you’re breathing and your heart is beating.
We’re wired to muti-task. But although you can multitask, and maybe you’re really good at getting multiple tasks done at once, you cannot multi-focus, which means you’re probably not doing a really good job at any of those tasks.
You can do multiple things at once, but you can only focus on one thing at once.
As a new mom, I often feel like that ovenmit – my hair is on fire, but I still am going through the motions of life like it’s not.
It’s only when we can slow down, and be fully present to what’s in front of us that we can enjoy the presence of life around us. Otherwise we’re too busy, too distracted, too tired, too *whatever you’re feeling* to see the magic of the moment.
…To experience the person in front of us …to truly hear them without our own thoughts getting in the way …to be present to the task at hand with full enjoyment, creativity and no disctractions.
That task is no longer a task to complete quickly, but something you can enjoy.
I know what you’re thinking…Audrey, that Zen Buddhist Dalia Lama stuff sounds really nice on paper. Namaste. But this is real life. I got stuff to do!
I get it. We all do. You’re not alone
But it’s more important now, more than ever to slow down and tune in because everything is pining for your attention. Everything – the ping on your phone begs for your response, your children want quality time with you, your job demands tasks to be returned, errands that need to be run, bills you need to pay, garbage that stinks up the kitchen and the worries in your head of not getting it all done in time.
You don’t have to be all, do all for all. Actually it’s pretty impossible. You won’t do it all well.
Instead of wanting more, I invite you to want less and be more focused on the very most important things.
Focus helps guide you to what is most important and helps you stay on your purpose.
If you don’t define what is most important to you, someone else will. People will grab for your attention. Tasks will BEG for you to complete them.
Then you get to the end of your day, and wonder what the heck did I accomplish today? Have you been there? I mean, you did stuff. You were in motion, but you didn’t move the ball forward. You were in action, but didn’t accomplish anything today.
I don’t want you to feel this way at the end of your life.
So, do this with me. Think about all of the things you are holding now. Well, maybe not holding, but juggling, and maybe even dropping. I know, it’s a lot sister!
Are these the most important things that will make the biggest difference in your life or the lives you love?
Take 3 deep breaths. What is the most important thing right now? What is the biggest regret you’ll have?
Now, this could be a big life goal or a change in direction that could seem scary. We major in minor things and get distracted and busy with the small stuff and it keeps us from accomplishing the BIG stuff.
What showed up for you may not be something big at all. It may be something small but really meaningful, like “figure out what IS most important. Or rest now. Or go to yoga. Or go to yoga with Audrey.”
You can use this easy exercise anytime you feel untethered to help bring you back to center and what’s most important to you.
Keep asking, what is important right now? Until you get down to the small doable action that serves your bigger purpose.
Was this an ah-ha for you as it was for me? Let me know on the blog or insta.
