215 - Liberty and Freedom in Jesus Christ part 1a

As I search the Scriptures, I will teach what I learn from my home fellowship and other places I'm invited to teach. I want to get those teachings out to others so they, too, can continue to learn how to read their Bibles for themselves. That's my goal. I'll continue to have my local fellowships and other Biblical studies on Zoom.

John 8:31,32 & 36 "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; ³² And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.³⁶ If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."

Jesus came to make us truly free and to rescue us. To understand that God rescued us, we need to know how we got into a position of needing to be rescued. The root of mankind's problem stems back to Genesis 1:28 when God originally gave man rulership, dominion, and authority over this world. Man was placed in this world as the ruler and caretaker, but when he sinned due to disobedience to God, he lost it and handed the rulership to the devil in the fall. The devil offered it to Jesus Christ in temptations, as recorded in Luke chapter 4.

Luke 4:5 & 6 "And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. ⁶ And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

The devil's number one goal is to be worshipped instead of God. 

Luke 4:7 "If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine."

^NAU Colossians 1:13 "For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of [or by the accomplished work of] His beloved Son,"

Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."

God created, in the beginning, the heaven and the earth. God was the first word written in the bible according to the "Holy Bible from the ancient eastern text by George M. Lamsa's translation from the Aramaic of the Peshitta," telling us God always comes first. This is a great key to understanding so that you don't get fooled by the thoughts and ideas of the world, which the devil controls.

Genesis 1:2 "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters."

The earth was – or became -  without form and void (empty).

Isaiah 45:18 "For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else."

God did not originally create the earth in vain or void, and He formed it to be inhabited.

Genesis 1:2:   This is not the way God created it to be.

2 Peter 3:5 & 6 "For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: ⁶ Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:"

“The world that then was” is talking about Genesis1:1

2 Peter 3:7 "But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men."

“The heavens and the earth, which are now” is talking about Genesis 1:2 and following, the one we live in.

2 Peter 3:12 "Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? ¹³ Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness."

This is the third heaven and the third earth. This is the only global warming that we need to be concerned about. We are in God's tender arms.

II Corinthians 12:1-4:  "It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. ² I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. ³ And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) ⁴ How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter."

Paul saw visions and revelations about the third heaven and earth but could not talk or tell about it.  It was the future to Paul and is still the future to us, similar to what you could read about in Revelation.

What happened between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2?

We have some records that tell us.  Let’s look at:

The War in the Heavens

Isaiah 14:12-14: "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! ¹³ For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: (one meaning of north is it points to God) ¹⁴ I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

He wanted to be above the star, God.

Ezekiel 28:15–19:  "Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. ¹⁶ By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. ¹⁷ Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. ¹⁸ Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. ¹⁹ All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more."

“because of thy beauty and pride”  “multitude of thy iniquities” We know his end – "a fire from the midst of thee, ashes upon the earth."

I Timothy 3:6:  ^"Not a novice, lest being lifted with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil."

Pride falls into the condemnation of the devil.

Proverbs 16:18:  "Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall."

Pride goes before a fall.

Proverbs 29:23: "A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit."

A man’s pride shall bring him low.

^NAU Romans 8:17 - 22 "and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. ¹⁸ For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. ¹⁹ For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. ²⁰ For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope ²¹ that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. ²² For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.

The whole creation groans and suffers in pain together until now.

Revelation 12:1-9:  "And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: ² And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. ³ And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. ⁴ And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. ⁵ And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. ⁶ And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days [1260 days, about 3 and a half years]. ⁷ And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, ⁸ And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. ⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."
