How to Get Back in The Groove After a Break

“It’s ok to take a break sometimes. And every once in a while we need a break.”

Brooke Elder

Today we're talking about how to get your groove back after a break. Since it's summertime, you may be taking a break from your business. Kids home from school, family vacations, and doing all the things can make it challenging to manage your business. This is why taking a break is essential, yet it's also just as crucial to plan for your time away.

First, make sure you are both taking and scheduling breaks. I try to plan something once a quarter or every three months, whether it's a vacation where we getaway or a staycation where we stay close to home, it doesn't matter.

Sometimes we do our family's favorite things. Every member gets to pick one of their favorite things, and the whole family has to participate. Usually, it takes two or three days to get through them, but even something this simple rejuvenates me and gives me the much needed time away from my business.

“Start making a plan of what it looks like to get back into your business.” - Brooke Elder

Breaks are good, but sometimes it’s hard to get back into things when you’ve been gone. This is why preparing for your absence beforehand is important.

Recognize how much time you need to transition back into work. Try not to have big projects planned when you get back. Large projects will make your time away less enjoyable, and the time you return just as stressful.

Never “should” on yourself...everything that you do is a could have.

Choose what you want to add back into your business when you return.

When you empower yourself with choices, it helps you better see the new decisions you need to make. One of the number one reasons people shut down is because they don't feel like they have a choice. If you want to stay in charge of your business, focus on what you want to happen.

If you're going to focus on customers, then create a system that will help you focus your attention on them. If you're going to increase your recruits, then find a method that works for you that will allow you to see the results you want.

“Boundaries have nothing to do with other people. Boundaries are about you.” - Brooke Elder

Set boundaries with yourself. What are you ok or not ok accepting? When you establish boundaries, you can enjoy your time off and still be productive when you get back to work. When you tell yourself how you are going to feel and act, you tell yourself what you are willing to accept and not accept. It can take practice, but with time it becomes second nature, and you will begin to see boundaries working to your advantage.
