POLESTAR DEVELOPS ITS OWN VIDEO STREAMING APP

 

- The beta app, which is available now in all European markets, brings web-based streaming content from various providers directly to the 11-inch center-mounted touchscreen display in the Polestar 2 to keep drivers and passengers entertained while the vehicle is in park or while waiting for the battery to charge.

 

- news and national TV broadcasts where available, as well as a video playlist curated by Polestar. The app includes feeds from SVT in Sweden, TV2 in Norway, and GOPlay and RTBF in Belgium. All European markets also receive feeds from BBC Ideas, which features short films and videos, Al Jazeera English and Germany's Tagesschau. Polestar said that additional video channels specific to other markets will be added over time.

 

- if a person is streaming a video and the vehicle is switched out of park the screen turns off but the audio feed continues uninterrupted in the background, allowing occupants to continue to follow the broadcast.

4,000 Mustang Mach-E are to be delivered in Norway in May and June. This could make the electric SUV one of (or even the) best-selling car in Norway.

TESLA SELF-DRIVE AT LEVEL 2 SAYS CALIFORNIA DMV

 

- Tesla’s automated driving capability is at Level2, says the California Department of Motor Vehicles.

 

- “Elon’s tweet does not match engineering reality. Tesla is at Level 2 currently,” says the DMV.

 

- “Tesla indicated that they are still firmly in L2,” added the DMV, “as Tesla is aware, the public’s misunderstanding about the limits of the technology and its misuse can have tragic consequences.”

TESLA HAS UNLEASHED FULL SELF-DRIVING MODE ON CITY STREETS WAY TOO SOON

 

- A video of a Tesla in Full Self-Driving mode published online earlier this year is 13 minutes of terror. It’s almost comically bad how terribly the robo-assisted car performs. Mostly, though, it’s just extremely concerning

 

- Driving through downtown Oakland is nothing like the wide boulevards and predictable traffic patterns of suburbia. The Tesla, it seemed, didn't know what to do with itself.

 

- At one point, the car goes into a left-turn only lane but continues driving straight toward a line of parked cars. 

It's a harrowing 13 minutes. The car gets honked at for taking turns too slowly and stopping too much, usually because it seems to think a pedestrian is nearby.

 

- It's the only autonomous car company that tests its system with users, however, instead of employees or contractors.

CAR DEALERS EMBRACING ELECTRIC VEHICLE SALES

 

- As a Nevada auto dealer who has been in the business for 42 years, I can assure you that my colleagues and I are just as excited to sell electric vehicles as gas-powered cars — if not more so.

 

- Today’s electric vehicles are powerful, sleek cars with long ranges. And the ongoing expansion of charging infrastructure makes ownership much more convenient.

 

- Today’s dealerships sell in person, and almost all have an option to sell online with home delivery. And whereas direct-to-consumer companies tend not to budge on price, competition between neighboring dealers has been proven to drive down prices on the same model.

 

- In 2020, Nevada’s nearly 100 new-car dealerships were responsible for more than 10,000 jobs, which paid an average annual salary of more than $73,000.

NHRA CREATES EV CLASS FOR DRAG RACING

 

- The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) has added an electric vehicle class for its drag racing events.

 

- Chevrolet and Ford have already shown us what they can do with electric power, with the eCOPO Camaro and the Cobra Jet 1400

 

- The class will debut in 2022 in the NHRA Summit Racing Series
