Release Date: 01/23/2015
Under the Comic Covers
Under the Comic Covers ends where it began four years ago, with The Walking Dead. We found it fitting and appropriate for this book to be the final issue we dive into.
info_outline 183: The Walking Dead #174; Paper Girls #18Under the Comic Covers
Under the Comic Covers has the distinct pleasure of talking about two fantastic issues of two fantastic books in this episode. We open with The Walking Dead #174, giving us our best look yet at Negan's inner-self as well as giving us, the readers, some well earned closure for a couple of characters. We then move on to Paper Girls #18, where we get some much needed exposition which completely alters our view of the various players in this particular story.
info_outline 182: Copperhead #16; Wayward #25; Manifest Destiny #32Under the Comic Covers
Under the Comic Covers returns from a short holiday break to discuss three great books. First up, we talk about Copperhead #16 before moving on to Wayward #25. Finally, we round it all up with this week's release, Manifest Destiny #32.
info_outline 181: Black Science #33Under the Comic Covers
Under the Comic Covers dives head first into the Eververse this week as we talk about Rick Remender's incredible sci-fi masterpiece, Black Science #33. Yes, we fan-boy/girl the hell out of this book, and specifically this issue... but dag-nabbit, it's worth the adulation!
info_outline 180: The Walking Dead #173; Paper Girls #17; Royal City #7Under the Comic Covers
Under the Comic Covers is back this week to tackle three fantastic books; The Walking Dead #173, Paper Girls #17, and Royal City #7. Our apologies for the delay in our coverage of The Walking Dead and Paper Girls, it was all Mr. Blahg's fault.
info_outline 179: Saga #48; Copperhead #15; Wayward #24Under the Comic Covers
This week, Under the Comic Covers has three amazing issues to go over. First, we finish out the latest arc with Saga #48... we then travel to a more frontier-like planet with the western themed Copperhead #15... and finally, we discuss a literally explosive issue of Wayward #24.
info_outline 178: They're Not Like Us #16Under the Comic Covers
Under the Comic Covers is always happy to welcome back a book that hasn't released a new issue in a while... They're Not Like Us #16 brings us back to a San Francisco filled with young "gifted" people and begins it's final three issue push.
info_outline 177: Black Science #32; Royal City #6Under the Comic Covers
This week, Under the Comic Covers dives head first into the Eververse with Black Science #32 and gets some heavy emotion with Jeff Lemire's Royal City #6. Two great titles... two great issues... two fun chats.
info_outline 176: The Walking Dead #172; Manifest Destiny #31; Paper Girls #16Under the Comic Covers
Under the Comic Covers is very pleased to discuss three great books in what was a fantastic week for comics. First up, we talk about The Walking Dead #172, giving us one hell of a cliffhanger. We move on to the 19th century and delve into Manifest Destiny #31. Finally we travel through time once again and land in the year 2000 as we have a confused chat about Paper Girls #16.
info_outline 175: Saga #47; Rat Queens Special: Orc Dave #1Under the Comic Covers
This week, we go Under the Comic Covers of Saga #47, where we learn quite a bit more about someone's past, and Rat Queens Special: Orc Dave #1... which we were very pleasantly surprised by.
info_outlineThis week Under the Comic Covers introduces two new titles... and although we don't bring you current with either, we go over the first volumes of both Jason Aaron and Jason Latour's Southern Bastards: Here Was a Man and Keiron Gillen and Jaime McKelvie's The Wicked + The Divine: The Faust Act. If you have not read either of these titles, run... don't walk... but seriously, run to whatever outlet you choose, but read these books. You will not be disappointed.
We don't have any listener mail to respond to this week... we are assuming you were shocked to hear we were covering two different books and simply didn't have the opportunity to catch up on two volumes with such short notice, but we respond to a couple of Facebook responses for The Wicked + The Divine and talk about a new Image Comics #1 in Top of the Stack. This week we discuss Reyn, the new fantasy adventure comic by Kel Symons and Nate Stockman... if you like monster killing action and farmers' daughters with large breasts, then you won't want to miss this book.
