The book focuses on the death of seven First Nation students and the incompetency surrounding the investigation of the death of the students. While residential schools may be a thing of the past that has been brought to everyone's attention recently, there is still a lot of corruption and death surrounding the current iteration of the residential schools. Major content warnings for death, alcoholism, suicide attempts,...

This week Stephanie and Meg read Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas! First, there are some serious content warning for this book: the main character has to deal with a family who hasn't accepted that he is transgender. Major CW for misgendering, discussions of dead names, and other issues with families that only see the binary. We discuss how wonderful this magical community is, falling in love with a dead boy, when is it appropriate to go to school during a murder mystery, and how bad ass a best friend can be! info_outlineI am on the road, but I took a few minutes to discuss banned books. I'm joined by Ollie for a quick discussion on banned books in the US and Ireland! As per the norm, we get slightly off topic, but it was definitely interesting to hear the difference between how both countries view and the history of banned and challenged books.
Note: at one point I say books can't be banned, which isn't 100% true — schools classrooms and libraries can ban books, but that's about it. Enjoy!
