Does This Come In Chromium?

On this episode Matt and special guest co-Doctor Occult superfan Matthew Dow Smith (writer/artist of AMELIA SHADOWS, THE OCTOBER GIRL) try to determine if "pleasure can really be such amusing gallows" (WTF?) by discussing 1994's VERTIGO VISIONS: DOCTOR OCCULT. If you like extremely deep dives on characters most people haven't even heard of it (and face it, if you're listening to this show - you do) then this episode is truly for you! Both Matt and Matthew are outspoken Doctor Occult fans, but interestingly, their love is each rooted in a different aspect of the character.  Although, a bit...

Doom 2099 #1 with Stacy from The Fanboy Power Hour show art Doom 2099 #1 with Stacy from The Fanboy Power Hour

Does This Come In Chromium?

On this episode Matt and special guest co-host Stacy (THE FANBOY POWER HOUR PODCAST) wake up in the far off future and instead of figuring out how to survive they decide to talk about 1993's DOOM 2099 #1. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better pitchman for DOOM 2009 than Stacy, whereas Matt is still upset at the series because he feels like it called him an idiot at a young age. So while Matt spends most of this episode trying to heal from that perceived slight, Stacy brings some genuinely insightful thoughts about the sliding scale of good and evil and how in a future world driven by...

Does This Come In Chromium?

On this episode Matt and special guest co-host Dave Amiott (host of JUST THE FACTS...AND MORE!: A DRAGNET PODCAST) try to rent a VHS copy of James Cameron's Spider-Man movie while discussing 1995's GREEN GOBLIN #1. Matt's on vacation but he would like you to know that a lot of time in this episode is spent talking about how video stores used to work (a topic near and dear to his heart), and he shares the story of how he discovered he'd never be cool in high school (spoiler alert: it involves a copy of GREEN GOBLIN #1 and a corn boil), while Dave posits that this comic could very well be the...

Amazing Spider-Man Annual 1998 with A. Lee Martinez and David Walton show art Amazing Spider-Man Annual 1998 with A. Lee Martinez and David Walton

Does This Come In Chromium?

On this episode Matt and special guest co-hosts A. Lee Martinez (author of many books including the upcoming UNBEARABLE) and David Walton (truly a listener favorite guest, even if he's too humble to believe it) run off to join the circus (of crime) but forget to do so because they get so wrapped up talking about 1998's AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ANNUAL. Matt is on vacation so the show notes will not be as detailed as they usually are, but just so you know what to expect when listening to this episode here's a little tease: Matt and Lee might be more aligned with J. Jonah Jameson than they'd ever...

Ragman #1 with Neil Kleid show art Ragman #1 with Neil Kleid

Does This Come In Chromium?

On this episode Matt and special guest co-host Neil Kleid (writer of MEDIEVAL, SAVOR, BROWNSVILLE and more!) sort through the stock at Rags 'n' Tatters while discussing 1991's RAGMAN #1. Ragman is a character that is frequently touted on comic book social media, but unfortunately has never managed to break through to a wider audience.  Will this podcast change that?  Probably not (this is DOES THIS COME IN CHROMIUM after all) but whether you are already a fan of Ragman or you know nothing about the character, you will want to hear what Neil has to say. Neil is incredibly thoughtful...

Does This Come In Chromium?

On this episode Matt and special guest layman Leyman Ian Anderson get shoved into a pool by a weird old woman and instead of drowning they spend the time talking about 1994's PRIMAL FORCE #0.  That's right, the often promised/threatened Primal Force episode is here! Regular listeners already know that Matt is a big Primal Force fan.  In fact, he may even be the prime Primal Force fan.  Or wait, is it the primary Primal Force fan?  Primo Primal Force fan?  Look, Matt loves Primal Force.  That's all you need to know about him. But what about Ian?  Is he primed...

Blindside #1 with Glitch show art Blindside #1 with Glitch

Does This Come In Chromium?

On this episode Matt and returning special guest co-host Glitch get blindsided by their discussion of 1996's BLINDSIDE #1. Before talking about the character of Blindside, Matt attempts to blindside Glitch with the history of the most bizarre television show he's ever seen.  Proving himself prepared for Matt's nonsense, Glitch not only knows the show but adds an entirely new level of weirdness to the story.  What is the show you ask?  You'll just have to listen to the episode to find out.  Hint: it has a dog in it. After the tv talk is over, Matt and Glitch get down to...

Does This Come In Chromium?

On this episode Matt and returning special guest co-Night Man enthusiast A. Lee Martinez (author of THE AUTOMATIC DETECTIVE, THE LAST ADVENTURE OF CONSTANCE VERITY, and the upcoming UNBEARABLE) befriend one another after being exiled for preaching the forbidden word of 1997's DEVIL DINOSAUR SPRING FLING. So, as it turns out Lee is a huge fan of Devil Dinosaur and as it also turns out, this random one-shot from 1997 exists.  Seeing an opportunity to once again talk to his favorite author while not straying out of the 90's safe space that this show inhabits, Matt eagerly brought Lee back...

On this episode Matt and special guest co-host from the futurrrrrrre (insert echo effect here) Mat Elfring (communications manager at Oni Press) try not to reveal which Mat(t) is the secret villain as they discuss 1993's X-MEN 2099 #1. Before the 2099 of it all, Matt and Mat spend some time heaping much deserved praise on another Matt.  In this case it's writer/artist Matt Kindt and his incredible new comic of MIND MGMT: NEW & IMPROVED (from Oni - issue one is available NOW and IT HAS A CHROMIUM COVER)! Then we're off to the year 2099 where things are...different...sort of. There's a...

Does This Come In Chromium?

On this episode Matt and special guest co-host Bobby Trippett (from the GRINDBIN PODCAST) have been where the river ran and avoided drownin' in a sunless sea in order to discuss 1991's NIGHTMARES ON ELM STREET #1. Is this episode about the man of our dreams Freddy Krueger?  Yes it is.  Eventually. First Matt gets very personal and tells the story of when he first met his wife and why the date June 13th holds a special place in his heart.  It's a sweet story that has all of the necessary ingredients (a Pinky and the Brain t-shirt, the somewhat remembered Ivan Reitman movie SIX...

More Episodes

On this episode Matt and returning special guest co-host Eric Shonborn get imprisoned in space by some Hard-Skins and decide to pass the time by talking about 1993's X-O MANOWAR #0.

Like any proper episode of Does This Come in Chromium, Matt derails the conversation immediately by analyzing Manowar lyrics.  Then, lest you think the episode gets back on track, Matt and Eric spend almost forty minutes discussing their love of Ted Kord as Blue Beetle.

After that, the conversation about X-O Manowar begins.  Both Matt and Eric agree that the Ron Maz/Bart Sears run rules - which is great because that's not what they're here to talk about.

Along the way, Eric recalls his rebellious youth where he refused to follow Wizard Magazine's marching orders, while Matt obsesses over whether or not "Jorge Gonzalez" is a real person.

Is Nightman mentioned in this episode?  Probably.
