🥔 Welcome back, Couch Potatoes! 🥔 Episode at a Glance The season finale of Nine Perfect Strangers is less “wellness retreat” and more “Minnesota snowstorm meets corporate blackmail at a Bavarian McDonald’s.” Masha gathers the group for a psychedelic “trial” of David Sharpe, where every guest’s trauma is traced back to his empire. As Ray put it, “They gathered in the Red Oak room to meet Masha, and now we’re back in the Red Oak room in the final episode with Masha. And we’re all here to watch the reckoning of David.” What follows is a wild ride of blame,...

It’s what they put divers in if they get the bends… Our da bought an old one for his business—” and admits his mother used it as punishment. Sometimes, she’d leave them in for hours, turning lights on and off, and Lyle says,...

Episode at a Glance
Pack your bags and your emotional snacks, because this week we’re jet-setting to Prague—where the past is as crispy as a fresh batch of tots and the secrets are even hotter!
Masha and David’s psychedelic soul-searching takes center stage, serving up a platter of heartbreak, espionage, and enough flashbacks to make your head spin faster than a Lazy Susan at a Minnesota potluck.
Here’s what’s sizzling:
🇨🇿 Prague, Please! We’re whisked back to 2001, where Masha (Nicole Kidman) is a Czech news producer who secretly wants to be a fierce investigative journalist and David (Mark Strong) is a mysterious tech mogul with a suitcase full of tenderness—and not a tator tot in sight.
🍄 Shroom With a View: Present-day Masha leads David through a mind-bending psychedelic session including experiencing childbirth, hoping to heal old wounds and unearth the truth about their daughter Tatiana. Spoiler: It’s a wild trip, and not just because of the shrooms.
💔 Tot-ally Heartbreaking: We finally get the full, gut-punch James Bond backstory of Tatiana’s fate—Russian spies, betrayal, and a mother’s grief that’s crispier than a double-fried tot.
🎭 Nicole Kidman, Queen of Feels: Nicole serves up vulnerability, rage, and a dash of that signature Masha mystery. Mark Strong is the perfect partner-in-crime, equal parts charming and tragic and suddenly a pretty gushy guy.
👀 Big Brother Martin: While Masha and David are tripping the light fantastic, Martin (Lucas Englander) is sneakily watching the whole show from his surveillance lair. Creepy? Yes. Entertaining? Also kinda yes?
😬 Side Dish of Disappointment: The rest of the Zauberwald crew gets left out of the fryer this week, making the episode feel a bit one-noted. We desperately missed our favorite ensemble tots!
Totty Takeaways
“Prague” is a heavy, haunting, and hypnotic episode that peels back Masha and David’s layers like a well-baked tator tot. But with the focus stuck on one story and a one night stand instead of the casserole of a fully baked love story, it left us craving more of the group’s crispy chaos. Still, the emotional flavor is strong—even if the story is a little soggy.
🥔 Tator Tot Rating (1 to 5 tots)
Jen: 2 Tots 🥔🥔
Ray: 3 Tots 🥔🥔🥔
Bonus - Jen's poem that justifies her two-tot rating:
Prague, oh Prague, where the story’s begun,
Not a CEO’s tale, but a tech on the run.
Mikeing up David with a cigarette’s spark,
A one-night stand lit up the dark.
No grand affair, just a fling in the night,
Yet decades unraveled in psychedelic light.
Masha’s mystique, now scattered and tossed,
In thirty-seven minutes, her legend was lost.
David, once steely, all business and pride,
Now butter and tears, soft on the inside.
He wishes he’d known, he wishes he’d cared,
But it’s easy to love when the pain’s been shared.
Poor Tati was promised a meeting so sweet,
A chance with her daddy, a moment to greet.
But even that hope was cruelly denied—
No ghostly embrace, no real side-by-side.
A daughter revealed from a moment so brief,
But the plot kept on twisting, beyond all belief.
Sergei the arms dealer, lurking in gloom,
Masha’s journalistic obsession spelled out her doom.
Prague, oh Prague, with your shadows and schemes,
You promised us strangers, you gave us old dreams.
Two little tots on a plate, cold and bare—
Mystique turned to mush, and we’re left wanting… more flair.
