info_outlineWelcome back to the podcast, today I am answering more of your questions and today’s is quite a hot topic in the service based world.
That question is, am I afraid of giving away my expertise for free? and I mean putting it all out there, not giving a little bit for free leading to a sales pitch, I’m talking about the content where you are showing up, being of service, giving value and giving your expertise in a free capacity.
The misconception is that by giving expertise away for free your discouraging people from paying for your services, so I want to unpack that a bit more, and share how in my experience that is absolutely not true.
I’ve seen a direct correlation between giving away my expertise and more people wanting to work with me.
When we ask people to invest in us they need to be connected to us, to our expertise and trust that we do have the impact we say we do. So by giving them a taste of what you do you’re letting them in and showing them first hand your values and your work.
However, I think there is a key difference in the way people engage with paid offerings and free content, and that is when people pay, they pay attention. I’ve experienced this in my business and I’ll share my examples with you but I truly believe in 'serve before you sell'.
Once we understand that difference you begin to see you’re not giving it all away for free and doesn’t stop people working with you, it connects them to you and ultimately moves them towards that paid setting.
