Clara is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Certified Personal Trainer and self-proclaimed wellness enthusiast on a mission to equip, empower and encourage women to build a healthy relationship with food and exercise, steward their body well, and achieve their optimal version of health in a way that is practical, sustainable and enjoyable, and all without restriction, obsession or overwhelm. She takes a refreshing, joy-filled and realistic approach to health that is a much needed breath of fresh air in the midst of all the nutrition noise and dogmatic diets. She also works as a clinical dietitian where she provides support and education to patients suffering from a wide range of debilitating, chronic conditions, so she sees firsthand the powerful effects that our daily food and lifestyle choices can have on our overall health.

This episode opens up with Kari and Clara discussing how Clara’s journey with nutrition began in high school and continued into college, where she discovered that she could make a career out of her interest in nutrition and earned a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist degree.  Clara began working in the hospital setting and saw how truly important our dietary choices are and just how little some people know about how to make the best choices with nutrition. Clara and Kari discuss some of the limitations that Clara has to work against in the hospital setting. 

Clara and Kari discuss the importance of  taking ownership of our health and how it is the place we need to start in order to see change. This can look like changing our diet, being our own advocate in the healthcare setting, etc.

This episode wraps with Clara and Kari debunking the myth of work-out more and eat whatever you want (junk food).  Clara shares how important the nutrition we fuel our bodies with is so important and that exercise shouldn’t be a punishment for what we ate.
