How do you shift your mindset from perfection to progression? Are you so scared of failing that you refrain from trying? Too many of us allow fear to have free rein over our lives. We set goals, gain momentum, and then start to question whether this path will actually amount to anything or lead us into destruction. All of a sudden, the brakes are slammed on and the opportunity to reach success comes to a stop.
“This is it,” you think. But it doesn’t have to be. Realizing the roles of failure will free you to take risks.

Why are you giving up so soon? There’s nothing to be scared of. Failures are actually opportunities, blessings, and forerunners of success.
Opportunities. Society has trained us from an early age to look for the next big thing. But the journey is far more important than the final destination. Fall in love with the process, failures and all. Failure inspires determination and the creativity you need to succeed.
Blessings. We know how tempting it is to wallow in self-pity when failure strikes. God in His abundant power and love will deliver you from even the lowest of lows. Open yourself to being blessed and receiving help from family and friends.
Forerunners. The best news? Success always comes after failure. All those painful experiences won’t be for nothing. If you so choose, the lessons you learn along the way will stretch and mold you into the person you were meant to be.

Yes, failure absolutely sucks. No, it shouldn’t stop you from chasing after your dreams. This week, take some time for self-reflection. Ask yourself what am I failing at in my life today? Write out your response and see what kind of action plan comes to mind. Pray for patience and seek to understand the greater purpose of failure in your life. Remember, it’s about progress, not perfection.
