The lincoln county process (LCP) is a charcoal filter process used in making Tennessee Whiskey. In this episode we sit down with Lexie Phillips the assistant distiller with Jack Daniel's. Jack Daniel's is largely responsible for popularising the practice along with the idea that LCP turns bourbon into TN Whiskey. In this episode we discuss is Jack bourbon, what the LCP is, what the process is doing to the whiskey, and I cry a little at the end. Enjoy!

Jack Daniels: Is It Bourbon and Does It Suck? show art Jack Daniels: Is It Bourbon and Does It Suck?

Bourbon Real Talk™

Jack Daniel's is the largest or second largest whiskey producer in the world (depending on what stats you follow). Jack Daniel's uses a charcoal filtering process prior to being put in a barrel for aging called the Lincoln County Process. A debate has raged for decades as to whether the LCP makes Jack into a whiskey that is not bourbon. Regardless of the legal name of the product there is a second debate as to whether or not the product is bad. In this episode we tackle both questions.

Top 5 Best Bourbons Of All Time show art Top 5 Best Bourbons Of All Time

Bourbon Real Talk™

People are always asking me what my favorite bourbon is.  I purposefully made the list exclusively from bourbons that are still in production. This eliminated dusties and any one time releases.  I also kept it strictly bourbon so no ryes were considered for the list. I didn't plan it this way, but all of my favorites are cask strength aka barrel proof whiskey. Also, back by popular demand is my lovely wife who helps me with tasting notes and makes it entertaining with her awkward charm.
