#38: 4 New Clients in 8 Weeks ft. Emmaline Chappell

This is the question that entrepreneur, Hailey Thomas, has built her system of career coaching around. Figuring out what you’re really doing

One of Emmaline’s biggest entrepreneurial barriers before she started on her coaching journey with Hailey was her lack of confidence in explaining what she does and who she helps. This is considered the essential “elevator pitch” in networking, and not being able to articulate what you do makes it difficult to find the right clients. As a part of her work with Hailey, Emmaline focused on finding out more about who she is and what her goals, both big and small, look like. This has paid off tenfold in her case, as she’s seen a great increase in her number of clients since her coaching session in June. 

“I felt like I had a blindfold on all the time of just like, what am I doing? What are the words? How am I going to get there?” 

Reorienting your views about the future 

Success doesn’t always look or feel like we think it’s going to. When first entering the world of business, especially when running your own, you may find yourself believing that success should always feel good. However, the work that goes into that success can feel really hard, and those hard feelings can become worse when we set our goals for the future at unrealistic standards. Instead, when we analyze what we’re doing and break down how we’re thinking about each individual goal, we can change how we look at our future and manage our expectations so that we can find those good feelings. 

“[Coaching] made me realize that everyday I would wake up and just go and do stuff, but I would never sit and really focus and analyze the skeleton of my business.” 

Understanding when you need professional help

Entrepreneurs often believe that they have to do everything themselves. It’s easy to fall into the trap of everyday routine and fail to realize that you don’t have to struggle alone.
