In this special update recorded on March 8, 2020, Jason Canapp from Here with the Magic joins me to discuss different ways that you can stay healthy during your Disney travel and vacations. We all want to stay healthy, especially when we have vacations coming up that we plan for and look forward to all year. A novel coronavirus, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), is causing anxiety as it continues to spread globally. COVID-19 has been greatly affecting the travel industry, as some people have been choosing to cancel their travels to decrease their risk of exposure.

During the week of March 1st through March 7th, Jason and I traveled cross-country, attended conferences in Orlando and San Diego, visited Disneyland California and Walt Disney World, and visited the Walt Disney Family Museum. We want to share our first-hand travel experiences to help you better prepare for any upcoming travel you may have planned.

We first discuss some ways that you can stay healthy as you prepare to travel. Our suggestions include avoiding sick people if at all possible, taking vitamins, eating healthy, and getting enough sleep. Use a barrier (i.e. a tissue) when touching a common surface, like an elevator button. Purchase hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes before you travel, because they may be hard to find at your destination.

Jason shares his experiences on multiple flights and different airports this past week. We discuss how so many travel cancellations are affecting airlines, and how it could affect your flight. We highlight common surfaces that many overlook, such as check-in kiosks at airline counters in the airports. We stress the importance of hydrating by drinking plenty of water when flying.

We share the extra precautions that we have observed Disney taking at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, and the changes to the schedule for the Walt Disney Family Museum.

We share our tips for staying healthy during your visit to the Disney parks and resorts. Avoid shaking hands with others. Be mindful of how often you touch your face. Sanitize your hands after touching common surfaces, BEFORE you touch your phone. Bring electronic screen wipes for your phone and other electronics.

If you feel sick while on your Disney vacation, please do not go to the parks! Not only will you make yourself feel worse, you may spread your illness to others. If you are staying at a Disney resort, you can call the front desk, and a Cast Member will review different medical options with you. If you are traveling with others, isolate yourself if at all possible to avoid spreading your illness.

In case you are sick and are stuck in your resort room, Disney offers in-room dining and pizza delivery to several resorts at Walt Disney World. Uber Eats is available at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. GrubHub also offers food delivery for several local restaurants around Walt Disney World.

For up-to-date information on COVID-19, including frequently asked questions, please refer to the Center for Disease Control (CDC.gov)
