info_outline #199 Intake Form Questions for Service ProvidersUnicorns Unite: The Freelance Digital Marketing Virtual Assistant Community
What intake form questions should service providers ask prospects before a discovery call? Don’t underestimate the power of asking the right questions upfront! This little form is the gateway to vetting your prospects, ensuring that your time and theirs are well spent. We've got an all-star lineup of Workgroup members, biz friends, and service providers sharing their favorite (or out-of-the-box) intake form questions and strategies. But why are intake forms so important? They're not just about gathering information. It's an opportunity to set yourself apart in a sea of virtual...

Today we have one of our very own Digital Marketer’s Workgroup members here on the podcast! She's one of our most recent workgroup members to share a big win. Heidi Schmidt is a Social Media Consultant who works with (mostly) small-mid sized woman owned service...

info_outline #196 Bookkeeping for Virtual Assistant Businesses with Serena ShoupUnicorns Unite: The Freelance Digital Marketing Virtual Assistant Community
All of us are freelancers for a reason: we want freedom. We also envisioned financial freedom. We're diving deeper into the bookkeeping, the accounting, and the expenses we can write off so that we are not paying the IRS as much at the end of the year (and keeping more for ourselves). We're getting credit for running our business because we're already paying a self-employment tax. We might as well take off these additional write-offs so we're not penalized for making more money. But we're doing this so we face our numbers, learn our numbers, and know where we're going. My guest Serena...

info_outline #193 How Virtual Assistants Can Transition from Hourly to Project RatesUnicorns Unite: The Freelance Digital Marketing Virtual Assistant Community
Are you tired of tracking every little hour? Do you feel like a smooth, well-oiled machine ready to charge a flat rate? Hourly rates are a good way to start when you’re a new virtual assistant or service provider. But over time you end up feeling undervalued and struggling to communicate your worth. It's time to break free from the hourly grind and confidently shift to project rates that truly reflect the value you bring to your clients. The eLearning market is expected to hit $400 billion by 2026. So this is a huge opportunity for us freelancers to support clients who are tapping into this digital source of revenue. There's an art to designing and writing a course where students get through to the finish line and have success. And we can be a part of that success as a digital marketing assistant when we understand how people learn and how they consume digital products and how things can be set up. My guest is Cat O'Brien, and she's going to teach us how we can help our clients create...
info_outlineHave you heard the advice that it takes 2 things to grow a business: time and money? You have to have a combination of both as fuel to a business. You can use money to speed things up and save you time.
Well as digital service freelancers, we kinda get out of the “have to have money” to start paradox. As virtual assistants, there’s a very low startup cost for us because we’re using our brains to create and do the work. Instead of money though, we need hard skills.
Skills can speed up what we charge and the time in grade it takes to be successful. But there’s one other thing that is pure gasoline to your freelance business: your network.
If you get these two things in place: you will grow 10x.
(And not make the same mistakes I did for years.)
This episode dives deeper into these two growth factors and shows you the winner’s path to running a profitable, successful freelance business. Enjoy!
