In this episode of the EXECUpreneur's EDGE Podcast, I'm busting another nutrition myth that's circulated long enough...

Conventional Wisdom would have you believe that skipping breakfast leads to excessive hunger, cravings and weight gain. And if those aren’t bad enough, there is claim that skipping breakfast can cause your body to break down muscle for energy. Remember the asinine notion of “starvation mode”? (Click to read my blog post on ”Starvation Mode”.)

There is no science to back up this claim…and when traced back to the origination of this misinformation, I found marketing. Yep, you read that right. Specifically marketing for breakfast cereals of all things. Does the name Kellogg sound familiar?

The grain lobby threw their hat in the ring when the whole “Eating Fat Makes You Fat” movement erupted in the mid-1950’s after some junk science made its way mainstream. They saw their opportunity to fill a gap on people’s breakfast tables and they took it! (Click to read my blog post exposing the “Eating Fat Makes You Fat” lie.)
