O Come Let Us Adore Him!

This Sunday, December 22, is the fourth Sunday in Advent. We will light the candle of love, as well as peace, joy, and hope. We will also continue our message series based on Christmas carols. This Sunday is one of my favorites, *O Come All Ye Faithful!* If you recall, the first verse of the song is *"O come all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant. O come ye, o come ye to Bethlehem. Come and behold him, born the king of angels. O come let us adore him! O come let us adore him! O come let us adore him, Christ the Lord!"* We use the word "adore" somewhat flippantly in English. I adore puppies and Christmas decorations! But adoring something is more than simply liking it a lot. To adore is to worship, to revere, to glorify, and praise. Who came to adore Jesus on that first Christmas? The shepherds in both humility and amazement came to adore Jesus and shared what they experienced with all who would listen. The wealthy, mysterious wise men from the East came to adore King Jesus and in response to their worship, open both their hearts and their treasure chests. (Luke 2:8-20; Matthew 2:1-2, 9-11) So if we think of God's faithful as those who come to adore the Christ - do you count yourself as one of them? How do you adore King Jesus?
