OT: The Podcast

This week’s episode contains more spice than Dune 1 and 2 combined — welcome to the first hot takes episode of 2024. Fuelled by the hottest takes from the OT: discord, Andy and Felix debate some of the most burning (and a few of the most trivial) issues the watch industry faces in 2024. From thought-provoking claims like ‘if Tudor dropped the Snowflake hand they’d be more successful’ and ‘the swing back to big watches is inevitable’ through to less earth-shattering takes like ‘120 bezel clicks are too many’, Andy and Felix wade fearlessly through the most controversial of...

OT: The Podcast

LVMH Watch Week, which was recently held in Miami, marks the start fo the flood of new releases for the year, and for our first news episode, we fly through some of the highlights from TAG Heuer, Hublot, Bulgari and Zenith. Of course, LVMH doesn’t have a monopoly on the news, and Piaget’s hype-y new Polo 79 is bringing u80s realness back to the wrist. But all these new releases pale compared to the biggest news story of the last few months, about a woman so cool she doesn’t even need to wear watches on her wrists. Yes, the one and only Taylor Swift ruffled feathers by wearing a custom...

OT: The Podcast

As Andy and Felix enjoy their summer down under, the Dubai Files continues to deliver. This week Felix chats to Oris Co-CEO Rolf Studer, and it's not your average watch exec interview. Typically, it's a challenge to get a CEO to talk about anything but the watches, but in our chat with Studer, we ended up talking far more about the Enlightenment and philosophy (and how it relates to the business of watches) than is usual. Of course, we did manage to squeeze in some chat about the glorious Propilot X Laser along the way. Before that, please enjoy some light banter about holiday plans and the...

You can’t venture too deep into the waters of vintage Tudor without coming across Ross Povey. His love for the brand that was once seen as Rolex’s ‘little brother’ stemmed from seeing quirky, colourful dials of vintage Tudor chronographs and from there, things escalated quickly. Povey talks to us about the rapid renaissance of the once-forgotten brand, and what they got right at Watches & Wonders 2022. And because Povey refuses to be easily categorised, he also has a deep and abiding love of gem-set Rolex. So we find out how the infamous (and Nick Cage endorsed) leopard print Daytona has evolved from an object of ridicule to cult cool.
