There has been much research focused on what leaders need to be effective. Ryan Gottfredson asked, how do we capture the being element of leadership? In other words, what is the mindset? Ryan is a consultant, professor, and author of Success Mindsets: The Key to Unlocking Greater Success in Your Life, Work, & Leadership. Kevin and Ryan both agree that our mindsets fuel our thinking, learning, and behavior. Further, if you don’t have the right mindset, it is more difficult to build your skillsets. Ryan recognizes that logically we know a command and control system does not work and yet studies show 65% of employees want a new boss compared to more pay. He found leaders still struggle, despite the logic, because for most people, our mindsets are something we are not aware of.
