Sea Hawkers Podcast

It's the first show of the second half of the Seahawks offseason, just past the Seahawkquinox, and there were a lot of strange things to happen at the apex of the offseason. First, we discuss the rumor that apparently was being thrown around two years ago, but was apparently only worth reporting now that Russell Wilson is being considered as the second-most untradeable player in the offseason. We go back to the initial audio that sparked the flurry of stories as Chris Simms seemed to downplay a rumor he didn't believe was worth following up on at the time. Another story that we don't have a...

294: Seattle Seahawks 2020 Draft Recap show art 294: Seattle Seahawks 2020 Draft Recap

Sea Hawkers Podcast

The Seattle Seahawks went into the draft with a need to improve the pass rush and came away with two defensive ends. Can Darrell Taylor and Alton Robinson help make up the difference with Jadeveon Clowney looking like he may not return to the team? Jarran Reed taking his old number back is the latest clue that Clowney has plans to go to another team this offseason. Two more players who won't be back are Justin Britt and D.J. Fluker. While Fluker got a lot of love on his way out the door, there didn't seem to be as much there for Britt. After we talk about the player departures, we go pick by...

Colby Parkinson was a player who was talked about as a potential first round pick only a year ago and they were able to select him in the fourth round. The Seahawks added...

Seattle Seahawks 2020 NFL Draft Day 2 Reaction show art Seattle Seahawks 2020 NFL Draft Day 2 Reaction

Sea Hawkers Podcast

The Seahawks made a big move near the start of Day 2 of the 2020 NFL Draft to move up and select pass rusher Darrell Taylor of Tennessee. They gave up their 3rd round compensatory pick to make the move, but were able to add a mid-fourth round pick by trading back from the final pick of the second round. In the third round, at pick 69, Seattle went with another SEC player in the trenches. Rob Staton of Seahawks Draft Blog joins the podcast and says he had LSU guard Damien Lewis consistently projected to go in the top 50. Although the Seahawks have been stocking up on guard this offseason, he...

The Seattle Seahawks stayed put on the first day of the draft and selected Texas Tech linebacker Jordyn Brooks. Rob Staton of Seahawks Draft Blog comes back on the show to react to the pick. With so many needs on the team, it's difficult for fans to accept that the Seahawks have now used their top draft asset as the biggest needs for the team remain the biggest needs.

Sea Hawkers Podcast

We've got Rob Staton back on the podcast for one last show before the draft. Prior to the show, we listened in to the press conference with Pete Carroll and John Schneider and discuss some of our takeaways regarding the ongoing situation with Jadeveon Clowney, the state of the Seahawks pass rush, and how the focus on the offensive line in free agency. Considering the lack of immediate contributors at the defensive end spot, it may be better for the Seahawks to look toward the defensive interior or consider weapons for Russell Wilson either at receiver or at running back. Rob talks about how...

Sea Hawkers Podcast

This show starts off by recapping the Seahawks news from the past two weeks, including the sad news of former Seahawks quarterback Tarvaris Jackson passing away this week. In free agency news, Seattle continues to add to the offensive line by bringing back Mike Iupati. What does this mean for the team in terms of how they approach the 2020 draft and which players are going to be competing for which positions? With the draft beginning next week, we discuss the similarities and differences from previous drafts. Even though there are some glaring needs on defense, the team could continue to look...

Sea Hawkers Podcast

Times are tough for some of the 2020 NFL Draft prospects. Particularly those prospects who would have been able to shine in front of NFL scouts at the various team Pro Days across the country. While there are quite a few players to feel sympathy for, there is a subset of players for which Rob Staton has no sympathy. Rob talks about a few players who had an opportunity to compete at the NFL Combine and chose not to ultimately missed out on what ended up being their last chance to display their athleticism. One Seahawks free agent has been significantly impacted by his inability to meet with...

Sea Hawkers Podcast

The Seahawks made a couple moves in the last week of free agency and freeing up some salary cap space with the release of Ed Dickson and the announcement that Tedric Thompson would be released soon. With those two moves announced on the same day, Seahawks fans were anticipating bigger news. Instead, we learn that Jadeveon Clowney's public asking price has now dropped below the $20 million mark. At the very least, hopefully it means there is some resolution on the issue soon.  With some down time ahead of the NFL Draft later this month, we take a look back at the 2019 free agency period...

The Seahawks move to 9-2 on the season after this past Sunday's victory over the Philadelphia Eagles which puts them at 6-0 on the road. It matches their best mark in franchise history and they did it without the help of Jadeveon Clowney. We talk about the last time a core injury came up with a star player and how it impacted the Seahawks in the playoffs during the 2015 season.

Even without Clowney, Seattle's pass rush was able to frustrate Carson Wentz who was dealing with a diminished offensive line and receiving corps. Rasheem Green had one of his best days as a member of the Seahawks and was instrumental in Al Woods getting a stat in the football deflation column. Rashaad Penny helped put the game away with a 58-yard run, but that didn't help to make Adam any less frustrated with the play from the running backs this past week.

Looking ahead to the Monday Night Football game against the Minnesota Vikings, Seattle faces a team in a similar mold of the last two football teams. The difference is that the Vikings have far superior weapons on offense with Dalvin Cook, Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen. Seattle will be in their modified color rush jerseys which are reminiscent of the 2009 jerseys the Seahawks only wore once. Plus, Adam shares his concerns as well as his joy regarding the Rams getting thrashed in their color rush jerseys.

We close out the show with a do better to the 49ers and their fans who might have to experience some inclement weather for a change in their game against the Ravens. While Better At Life carriers on the 49ers theme for some good causes that Richard Sherman has been a part of during the holiday season.
