When it idd eventually come out, as expected, her parents were not too thrilled. They were not as concerned about the relationship as they were about the fact Izzy felt she had to hide it from them.

After more than a decade together, Lara and Elise had what could best be described as the perfect life.

They shared a love that was the envy of their friends, they were both successful in their careers, they owned a beautiful home in the inner west of Sydney and they had two gorgeous daughters.

When Lara and Elise married in 2010 same sex marriage was not legal in Australia but that didn't stop them declaring their love before 101 of their closest friends and families. For them they were as good as married, they just didn't have the legal marriage certificate to prove it.

Just 3 weeks after the birth of their second daughter, Lara's world came crashing down when tragically, Elise lost her life. For Lara, the trauma of losing the love of her life and the mother of her children was only the start of the trauma that followed.

Australia voted Yes for same sex marriage and in doing so they got it right ...... #this is why
