Running, Walking, and Exploring: Midlife Miles
I'm Sandi Lake and I've been running for 50 years, which is a bit ironic since I was the least athletic girl in my PE class. I stuggled with hand-eye coordination and had to be placed (not picked) on a team in PE just so the numbers worked. That's who I was. Fast forward: I've completed 16 full marathons, 100+ half marathons and more shorter distances than I can cound -- including 7 World Major Marathons (New York, Chicago, Boston, Berlin, London, Tokyo and Sydney). My second Boston Marathon and each of the international marathos happeded after I turned 60. I'm still running, still race directing for non-profit organizations that need someone who understand what it takes to get people to the starting line and cheer them on at the finish line. Do you find yourself asking: -Is it too late or am I to old to start running or walking? -How do I get started and stay motivated when everything hurts a little more than it used to? -What does it actually look like to keep moving - physically and in life - through the midlife chapter? This podcast is for you if: -You're navigating midlife and want to start or keep moving. -You want real talk instead of empty motivation. -You want to be at the starting line instead of on the sidelines -You want proof that adventure, momentum, and reinvention are very possible - no matter where you are starting from! Midlife Miles is built around three things I believe are deeply connected: 1. Movement & Training: Practical topics - running, walking, and exploring incluidng how to actually get going and keep going. 2. Life in Motion: The mindset, resilience and reinvention that comes with our stage of life. 3. Adventure & Travel: Moving forward should sometimes mean a passport stamp, not just a training log. Running, walking, & exploring through midlife in whatever form that means for you.
