How do you fit Universal Basic Income into libertarian thought? "Don't tread on me" is the essence of today's debate. Peterson dissects the implication of Universal Basic Income as presented by Andrew Yang's book . They also bring up an article from the socialist magazine and the old psychological theory presented by Abraham Maslow in 1947. counteracting idealogues
Today's episode covers Woke Racism by John McWhorter. The book has received much criticism from thought leaders of the third-wave antiracist movement. Jared and Peterson try to understand both McWhorter's perspective and the perspective of those thought leaders. Finally, they turn to a broader principle of combating idealogues. What is an idealogue, and when are they harmful to the world? Thanks for listening! Don't forget to subscribe! And if you have any feedback, please email us at

The United States of America has the capacity to grow to three times its current population size, according to Matt Yglesias's book, . Peterson and Jared talk about some of the problems brought up in the book, such as family sizes, immigration, congestion, and zoning laws. They both agreed that this common goal was more unifying than polarizing. The hard part is agreeing on the little things that would generally end up as power struggles in political debate. (Recorded Feb 15 2022) We read Ray Dalio's most recent book "Principles for Dealing with a Changing World Order," only to confirm our mounting suspicions about what we discussed in the Afghanistan episode. Does the world perceive the US as weak? Are they naive to do so? We highly recommend that all listeners find this book and learn about what Ray Dalio is working on. Review 2021 Voting Laws
In their penultimate trip back to the overpass, Jared and Peterson review some of the more controversial voting laws that have been passed across the United States over the course of 2021. These laws come as a direct rebuttal to the results of the 2020 election. Most of the information discussed in the episode came from the Brennan Institute for Justice. They are an incredibly expert and seemingly non-partisan resource for understanding the nuance of recently passed statutes. In lieu of Valentine's Day, this may have been the episode with the most playful banter between the co-hosts, but don't hold your breath for them getting along in the future.
