Steelers Outpost Podcast
The Steelers pulled the cover off of the Mazerati to see if the engine would start. After a couple of sputtering attempts, it revved up with Ben Roethlisberger and the offensive starters methodically marching 58 yards down the field for the team's first touchdown, a 17 yard pass to JuJu Smith-Schuster. This feels real. Not like 8th grade with Bubba Kowalchik towered over the entire middle school at 5'6", only to stretch out to 5'8" by senior year. NO. This feels like.......destiny.

info_outlineFor Whom the Bell Tolls
At 4:00 pm today, July 16, it became official. Le’Veon Bell and the Pittsburgh Steelers threw in the towel. There will be no long-term contract for our superstar do-all running back. He receives the franchise tag for the second year in a row, all but ensuring his departure in 2019.
We talk about the obvious negatives of this development, which was all but expected, other than the Pollyanna-ish wishful thinking by some pundits, Mike Tomlin and Bell himself.
We also talk about the window of opportunity and what this portends for the Steelers, post the 2018 season.
Soccer Addendum
While not apologizing for what some sensed as soccer-bashing last week, we clarify our intent. We were only expressing the probability that the U.S. would be dominant in soccer if only our best athletes chose that path, rather than the NFL and the NBA.
