The Next Chapter with Charlie

Show Notes  After a three-month break from doing podcasts, we’re back. I am very much looking forward to our new season. You know, I needed a time of intentional pondering about what I might like to do in my final chapter of what I call “a life richly lived.” This year, in September, I turn 75. Three quarters of a century. Enough time to live a life meaning, adventure, and awe—which has been the theme the of The Next Chapter with Charlie for the past 9 years. After considering the purpose of my web presence, the theme of meaning, adventure, and awe continues… but perhaps with...

Show Notes

Today’s episode is once again with my dear friend Terry Hershey who in two days will give a talk on emotional and spiritual immune systems. Before he told me about his speaking gig I had never really considered such a thing as emotional or spiritual immune systems. The thought intrigued me and so… here we are.

I thought about it and it occurred to me: When we take a vaccine, we are actually injected with a micro dose of the disease so that our bodies can build up an immune system. So I wondered, “Is the same thing true of our emotions?”

If so, then it must be the case that our emotional and/or spiritual Immune systems are developed in our brains only when we allow a negative emotion to have its way for a while.
