#208 Nese Dolan and Charlie: Broken, Mended and Better Than New show art #208 Nese Dolan and Charlie: Broken, Mended and Better Than New

The Next Chapter with Charlie

Show Notes  Our show today is a fun experiment. I have invited Nese Dolan, Director of Communications at Wells of Life and active law student to be on her very first podcast, not as a guest but as host! Yes. I couple months ago Nese interviewed me for an Onboarding Project for her new job. Her interview was outstanding. I told her she could be the host of a podcast, and then… well… then I offered her an opportunity to host our show today. On this episode, Nese and I will talk about the beauty of brokenness. Using the Japanese cultural models of “wabi sabi” and “kintsugi” we...

The Next Chapter with Charlie

Show Notes   Sometimes really good things occur totally un-planned and today’s show is one of those times. Serendipity!!! Truth is, only this morning I had a very last-minute cancelation with my guest today. So as I was planning a “solo-sode” on the Craft of Creativity, I happened to receive a text early this morning from Courtney Marchesani about an unrelated issue and lo and behold, here she is joining me in to discuss creativity—as it happens one of her favorite topics. I am anxious as anyone to see just how this show comes about. I trust serendipity. Let’s see as we once...

Show Notes  I believe we covered very fresh ground today on this entertaining and informative show with Labor law attorney Teresa McQueen. What Teresa learned early in life as a blackjack dealer in Las Vegas she has used to transform her hugely successful law practice. Now she even spreads her intelligent and ever-so insightful wisdom as podcast host of Workplace Perspective. Our show begins with Teresa describing her professional journey, and in doing so, she reveals one key idea that may be the secret to her success and to yours as well. That is, Civility—an infrequently used word for...

#205 Andy Robin: The Tapas Life  show art #205 Andy Robin: The Tapas Life

The Next Chapter with Charlie

Show Notes  “You could be retired for decades — so you might as well get good at it!” Our guest today, Andy Robin, truly “loves what he writes.” In his recent book, The Tapas Life, Andy articulates fresh ideas about living a delicious life—one with all the tastiness of a Tapas meal. And for those of us not familiar with the Spanish idea of “Tapas” just think of a meal consisting only of several appealing appetizers with no “main course.” On this show, Andy will share how a life of what he refers to as “prototyping vs creating a Grand Plan” and then provides...

#204 Christine Naman: A Parent’s Journey Through a Child’s Addiction show art #204 Christine Naman: A Parent’s Journey Through a Child’s Addiction

The Next Chapter with Charlie

Show Notes  My guest today, Christine Naman, offered me unusually candid insights in matters of addiction in younger adults and how they are not as “uncommon” a many think. Drugs are so available, so commonly used by young adults and so especially soothing to the bullied and unaccepted child. Although not limited to the unpopular kids. What Christine brings to us is a brutally honest assessment of the role of a caring parent often denial and even and enabler an addiction. This is no doubt this one of the most important interviews on the Next Chapter with Charlie. Be prepared. You will...

#202 Terry Hershey: The Permission to be Ordinary show art #202 Terry Hershey: The Permission to be Ordinary

The Next Chapter with Charlie

Show Notes  After a couple months of hiatus, I am so pleased to welcome back my friend and frequent podcast guest Terry Hershey. In today’s show Terry and I discuss the mostly American need for the overuse of superlatives in our daily speech. In this episode we talk about words like “great,” and “best” and “favorite.” Why is it when asked “how you doing” we commonly fall back to the phrase, “Great. I’m doing great!” Really??? How can you be doing great—all the time. Or what about “what is your favorite movie? Huh, before Covid I went to the movies twice a week....

Show Notes

Well Paul… Here we are on April 15, 2020, more than 30 days into some form of quarantine. As we continue to do our shows remotely we will, for the 3rd time, have a “Conversation in Quarantine” with a friend of mine that I haven’t spoken with for some time.

Today my guest is Caitlyn Cogan Doemner. After studying at Oxford University and then receiving an MBA from Biola University, Caitlin co-founded and launched her sales management company in March 2013. In less than three years, they had earned their first million dollars; within 6 years, they had generated over $10M in new revenue for their clients.  Their clients now include some of the most prestigious names in the coaching industry, including Deepak Chopra. Caitlin has also published multiple books, including “The Unseen Sales Machine” and “Sell with Heart.”

Caitlyn and I met about ten years ago at company, which I engaged in executive coaching and management development. She was an unusually bright and intuitive young woman at 25 years old, and now ten years later, hers is a most impressive success story.Caitlyn lives in Apple Valley with her husband Michael, their four kids, 1 cat and 17 chickens.

Okay… Paul, it’s time to get Caitlyn Doemner on the line and talk to her in a Conversation in Quarantine.
