The Painting show art The Painting

On My Drive Home

Back in March, I visited art exhibition highlighting the works of local artist Tiit Raid. I have always enjoyed visiting art galleries. However, for the first time in my life on that night in March, I experienced an unexpected, profound, and repeatable emotional response to one particular painting. In this episode, I share my experience along with a number other ramblings you have come to expect from me in this format. The title of the painting is:  "Fall Creek: Late Afternoon II". On Saying On Saying "No" to Pickleball

On My Drive Home

Pickleball is one of the the most popular and fastest growing sports, and it seems I can't go a single day without meeting someone else I know that is now playing pickleball.  Okay, that last part is hyperbole, but I know A LOT of people who are seriously into the sport. Many invitations have been extended my way to play.  And though it looks like fun and seems to be a great sport, I have decided to take a pass for the time being. This is my why.

Fairy Tale Part 1: Revisiting King's Fantasy Work show art Fairy Tale Part 1: Revisiting King's Fantasy Work

On My Drive Home

When was the last time you bought a hardcover novel from an actual book store? If you had asked me that question a month ago, I would not have been able to answer. It's been a long, long time. But that has changed, and I'm now the proud owner of a brand new hardcover work of fiction: I have not read anything by Stephen King in decades as my taste for the horror genre went away in my early 20s.  But with this release, Stephen wanders back into fantasy, and my experiences some of his prior fantasy work led me to make the impromptu purchase. In this episode, I share some of my cautious...

In this episode I primarily talk about my newfound interest in soccer as I have been watching and enjoying the World Cup over the last month. This time around, I was back behind the wheel for *MY* second FSD Beta experience, and we invited our friend Charlie to join us as a brave and adventurous back seat passenger. Tesla Full Self-Driving (FSD) and Me: A Retrospective show art Tesla Full Self-Driving (FSD) and Me: A Retrospective

On My Drive Home

I had a fun experience recently when I got to drive (or more accurately, "be driven by") my good friend John's Tesla Model Y with Full Self-Driving. focused on electric vehicles and invests a lot of time and energy into testing and reviewing Tesla's Full Self-Driving capabilities and performance. He set up his cameras, put me in the driver's seat, and captured my real-time reaction as I not only drove a Model Y for the first time but also let the Tesla do it's thing with FSD. This episode captures some of my initial thoughts and reactions.    You can watch the video here:

My Apologies, L.J., Wherever You Are show art My Apologies, L.J., Wherever You Are

On My Drive Home

Nearly 30 years ago, I had the opportunity to demonstrate great sales and marketing skills at a concert for one of my favorite musicians at the time, but my chops had not yet been developed.  So, instead, I inadvertently offered a less than enthusiastic commentary about his most recent album release. After all this time has passed, I still wish I could have that moment back and say something else. This, my friends, is that story.  Mentioned in the podcast:

Notion - You Need to Check Out This App! show art Notion - You Need to Check Out This App!

On My Drive Home

I have recently (re)discovered a fantastic note-taking app called Notion. To be fair, saying it's just for notes is something of an understatement. I'm testing it out as a replacement for Evernote which I have been using for years and like a lot.  However, Notion just offers more interesting features and a fresh user experience that I am loving so far. In this episode, I share some of my very preliminary thoughts. Check out Notion for yourself here: Also mentioned:

The Time I Thought I Still Had The Time I Thought I Still Had "It"

On My Drive Home

About ten years ago, I was on a business trip in the Silicon Valley, and for about 15 seconds, I thought I still had "it". I didn't. Curious?  Listen on for a fun and lightly self-deprecating story.

Let's Stop Watering Our Lawns show art Let's Stop Watering Our Lawns

On My Drive Home

I guess this is the closest thing to environmental activism I have ever done.  That is, recording my thoughts about what I consider to be one of the most wasteful uses of fresh water.  But it is something that I find unnerving. Oh, and I include a driving PSA, as well. Enjoy!

More Episodes
With this episode, I’d like to introduce a new podcast segment I call the “Meta Minute” where I share some behind-the-scenes stories about the process of producing these episodes.

With this first Meta Minute release, I talk about my mild frustration with the episode release tasks and share my thoughts for some things I want to try in order to streamline the work.

Specifically, I use Libsyn as my podcast host and run a WordPress them using the Divi theme from Elegant Themes.  It’s a great theme, and I have been using it for years both personally and professionally.

But some of the mechanics for releasing each episode get tiresome, and I’m ready to try some things differently to make the whole experience more efficient.

I hope you enjoy this slightly different angle on this humble podcasting journey.
