Show Notes A common subject these days has to do with the trauma… and how each of us has experienced some kind of trauma in our past and, unfortunately for many, it is still a very present reality. A theme I have been working on for a couple of years now, is that each of us is an amalgamation of who we have been and what we have experienced in our past. And very often, that past continues to slip into our present making, us prey for our demons of our past. What if we could find a way to manage and deal with negative events of our past that we could possibly we could live freer...

Podcast Opening Do we choose the life we live or is our life predetermined by nature, God, DNA, personal experience, or evolution? And… as I just today found out from my daughter-in-law, Maggie Hedges, this is also an important topic among followers and teachers of Astrology. Yikes! Big, big questions. Today, my brilliant guest, David Lawrence, has written a book titled Biochemical Robots in which he addresses the question: Is Free Will an illusion or do we truly possess personal autonomy? David Lawrence holds a degree in philosophy from UCLA and another...

Show Notes Our guest today offers profound insight into what it takes to live the kind of life that truly makes a difference… for you and for the people around you. As I spoke with Richard Flint earlier in the week, I discovered amazing congruence in our core beliefs: we believe personal choices result in impactful personal behaviors. Quite simply, as you look at his track record, Richard Flint is a powerhouse. With more than 35 years of experience in the field of human behavior and development, Richard has cemented himself as a renowned keynote speaker and seminar...

Show Notes I’ve been thinking a lot lately about our American love affair with knowledge and ideas that are measurable… or what is frequently referred to scientific proofs. Unfortunately, too many influential leaders focus on so-called facts, while pretty much totally ignoring the eternal value of wisdom. Today, I’m looking forward to chatting to Terry about the place of wisdom in our everyday life—sort of a “lessons learned” from a couple of older guys. Terry Hershey is our most regular guest. If you don’t know him, Terry is a prolific writer, conference keynote...

As Charlie enjoys a cruise to Alaska to celebrate his wife's birthday, I thought we'd replay one of my favorite shows I (as the producer) got to participate in last year that we called "LESSONS FROM THE TOMB". If the title alone doesn't intrigue you enough to listen, here are some of Charlie's notes from that original episode: "This show is about endings and beginnings and the unspoken time in-between the two. Life is one long journey of these beginnings and endings like projects, careers, marriages and even life itself. As T.S. Elliot writes in his poem East Coker from Four Quartets, to...

Show Notes Today, Terry Hershey and I will have a friend’s chat in an episode we are calling, “Just Say ‘in.” Although I have a list of things I’d like to talk about, no subject is off limits. Let’s see what happens. If you’re a frequent listener of the show then you’re very familiar with Terry Hershey, who is a regular guest. If you don’t know him, Terry is a prolific writer, conference keynote speaker, renowned landscape architect, and spiritual advisor. With that, let’s bring on our Terry Hershey. We have a very important social issue in our culture today that receives little press, or… really… any kind of attention… Except to those in the middle of it: Care for our Aging population. Especially those with that require medical, professional or just more regular personal attention.
On today’s show we have gerontologist and dedicated advocate of society’s disenfranchised, Dr Jacque DuPont. Jacque is so uniquely gifted. She demonstrates that rare combination of superior intelligence with an overwhelming heart of compassion.
On this episode of the Next Chapter with Charlie Jacque guides me through the critical issues of dementia and other disabilities common to people in the closing chapters of aging. And she offers insights into how adult children can manage these issues.
The first thing, Jacque suggests, is to find it in our hearts to recognize both the humanity and the dignity that all human beings deserve.
Our podcast today is one of the most insightful shows we have ever done.
