More Episodes

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this totally '80s installment marks my 89th episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging more than 3,000 VHS transfers and digital recordings. This installment, titled "Forever Freestyle," celebrates probably the broadest timeline covered by my classic and current collections, featuring material from every decade between 1930 and 2020.

My Fuzzy Feature highlights the 1980s miniseries, network series and the 2009 reboot of "V," including a contemporary clip from my "TV is the New Reading" podcast. I track some Cross Connections through the casts of the original and the reboot such as Jossverse connections to Morena Baccarin, Alan Tudyk and Gina Torres and original series connections through Michael Mantell and Richard T. Jones. A flashback episode of "My Name is Earl" featured an appearance by long-acknowledged Golden Thread Beau Bridges as Carl Hickey. And several arterial connections showed up in "Mercy" including Michelle Trachtenberg, Jane Mulgrew and Elisabeth Moss; "Boston Legal" including Jane Lynch, Megan Mullally and Prime Connector Stephen Tobolowsky with William Shatner, Rene Auberjonois and Armin Shimerman.

In my Classic Collection, cataloging discs 1476 through 1500, I encountered an ad for a two-disc set packed with '80s dance hits called "Forever Freestyle." You can see the ad here: https://youtu.be/ZDNlUl706Ls Based on finding it in my collection I added the songs in that compilation to my music collection.

Also, I found one of two German-language episodes of "Monty Python's Fliegende Zirkus," the Bravo rebroadcast of "Six Feet Under" episode "Eat a Peach," and a Lexus ad featuring some brilliant stage-management tagged "The safest accident is the one that never happens." You can see that one here: https://youtu.be/Xw3-hOE3l8M

Plus comments on "Hamlet 2," "The Prisoner," "The Ninth Gate," "CATS," "The Riches," "Fringe," Ellen hosting the Oscars, a documentary on the 2008 presidential election called "By the People: The Election of Barack Obama" and the 1952 movie "Desk Set."

In my Current Collection I talk about the "BoJack Horseman" finale and connections between that and the final season of "Six Feet Under." Also, comments on "Quantumania," "Soup to Nuts," "Michael Shayne, Private Eye" and the third season premiere of "Only Murders in the Building."

In What I've Been Watching, comments on "Elemental," "Barbie" and "Grace & Frankie," as well as "Project Runway" and "Crime Scene Kitchen."

And in my streaming selections, I took in the series premiere of Nathan Pyle's "Strange Planet" on Apple TV. Fun show!
