Cobie Cruz was born in Manila, Philippines into a family of artists. He started his career in advertising as an art director, then became a director of television commercials before starting to paint professionally. Cruz participated in several group and solo exhibitions before emigrating with his family to Canada in 2005.

Cobie Cruz's paintings are an exploration of composition, color and texture. The bold and determined brushstrokes are created by both intention and spontaneity and reflect his interpretation of the world around him.
