Today, our show is going to be a little different. We’ll be focusing on the devastating effects of Hurricane Melissa, the Category 5 storm that hit Jamaica in October 2025.

Hurricain Melissa

Hurricane Melissa made landfall as a devastating Category 5 storm, packing sustained winds of over 160 mph and unleashing over 20 inches of torrential rain across the region. While the resort itself sustained damage, the most severe and immediate impact was felt by the staff community, many of whom reside in the surrounding areas of Westmorland. The storm’s scale was immediately apparent, leaving countless homes severely damaged or destroyed, which rapidly escalated into a humanitarian crisis requiring an urgent, coordinated staff relief effort.

The Hedonism II Foundation began its journey in September 2017, driven by the heartfelt commitment of Hedonism II Resort to give back to the Negril community. Guided by a clear purpose, we’ve since touched the lives of hundreds of underprivileged children and families, transforming challenges into triumphs.

Our earliest initiatives focused on bridging educational gaps by providing essential resources such as textbooks, backpacks, laptops, and tablets – empowering children to excel academically. We soon expanded our scope, renovating schools, upgrading community centers and breathing new life into neglected spaces, creating vibrant environments where children and youths can thrive.

We also understand that building community spirit goes beyond education alone. With heartfelt activities such as our annual Holly Jolly Christmas events, Breakfast Clubs, Back-to-School Treat, and Disaster Relief programs, we’ve consistently offered care and support where it matters most. Each project we’ve undertaken is not just a task completed but a story of renewed hope, resilience and lasting change.

From humble beginnings to now serving as a beacon of community inspiration, the Hedonism II Foundation remains dedicated to nurturing brighter futures and stronger communities – one child, one family, and one dream at a time.

Our mission is clear and unwavering: to uplift and empower underprivileged children and youths across the parishes of Hanover and Westmoreland, Jamaica.

We believe passionately in the transformative power of education, community engagement, and compassionate support to change lives, and we are dedicated to making these opportunities accessible for all.

Through our Pillars of Hope – Education Initiatives, Scholarship Assistance, Community Development, Youth Development, Family Support, Health Care Assistance, Sports Development, and Environmental Sustainability – we strategically deliver targeted programs that break the cycle of poverty. Whether it’s providing critical medical aid, scholarships to ambitious students, or safe spaces to learn and grow, every initiative is thoughtfully designed to inspire confidence, ignite ambition, and open doors to brighter futures.
