Prompt It is your turn to write about how something or someone makes you feel strong emotions. Your emotions could be positive or negative.

Reflection I wrote this poem--called “Ocean”--because it reminded me of when me and my family used to go on vacations to the beach. It brought me back to those times when I was little. As you can see, I spelled out the word “ocean” along the side of my poem while expressing the meaning of the word. For every letter, I wrote the definition in my opinion. Prompt Therefore, I have a challenge for you. This week, I want you to write a poem that means something to you. Maybe it’s about you, your family, or your culture. Reflection

Growing up, as I’m still in my childhood, has been pretty hard for me. Spending countless days after school sleeping, scrolling, or staring at my wall in thought. I found myself listening to music or watching funny people play games to cope with this feeling. While writing, I felt like I was contradicting myself. I want an older sibling; I want to be taught. But I also just like being an only child--just not lonely. At school, I was often joyful because I was around people who I liked.

Prompt

For you, who also might want to write a poem, you can try brainstorming how you act around people, or in a certain place compared to a different person, when you are alone, or in a place you are more comfortable or uncomfortable in. I am usually misunderstood, so if you share the same (or similar) feeling, you could write about that.
