He further clarifies that God desires us to operate in faith. We should not allow ourselves to be guided by a carnal viewpoint but rather embrace a perspective filled with God's Spirit. Joseph warns against being like Thomas, who doubted God's promises, and reminds us that blessed are those who believe without seeing. He references Romans 8:5-9, which states that being carnally minded leads to death, while being spiritually minded brings life and peace. Therefore, anyone who does not possess the Spirit of God is not truly of God.
Joseph also points out that if we do not anchor ourselves in God’s word while using our gifts, we risk making errors. He warns against hypocrisy, which occurs when we attempt to be spiritual without adhering to God’s word or develop our own methods of engaging with the spiritual realm while being carnally minded. He clarifies that possessing a spirit of discernment without submission to God’s word can lead to suspicion. He urges us to read God’s word consistently to experience the fullness of what God has in store for us.
