Hurricane Melissa reached the theoretical limits of how powerful a storm can be on planet Earth. A major hurricane with 185 mph sustained winds, Melissa struck the island nation of Jamaica on October 27, 2025. The outlying tropical storm winds also flooded the western peninsula of Haiti and parts of the Dominican Republic. In this episode, Jan Milton tells us about the coordinated relief efforts of Operation Renewed Hope and our partner organizations. info_outlineOn July 4, 2025 a violent flash flood crashed through the Guadalupe River valley in Kerr county, Texas. The flood waters rose more than 26 feet. One official reported that the area received so much rainfall that the same amount of water that would ordinarily go over Niagra Falls in a month and a half crashed through that narrow river valley in just 24 hours. Ultimately 21 counties were affected. At this writing, the death toll stands at 120 people Iincluding many children) with about 173 unaccounted for. Please pray for the churches and volunteers that will be working with Operation Renewed Hope and Nehemiah's Network to respond to this disaster.
