Located in Summit County, this area was partially evacuated in the 1970s when the government acquired the land for the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area. Designed to be a utopian society, the town’s dreams were washed away—literally—by a tragic flood that killed dozens. Today, the few remaining structures and nearby riverbanks are said to be haunted by spirits who perished in that disaster, still searching for peace that eluded them in life.
