Many believe it to be the most haunted house in America.

 

But the LaLaurie Mansion is just the beginning. New Orleans is a city where the line between the living and the dead seems thin, and stories of hauntings can be found on nearly every block. Take St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, for example—the final resting place of the famed Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau. Visitors often leave offerings at her tomb, hoping for her favor, and many report seeing her spirit walking among the graves, still guarding her sacred ground.

 

Another hotspot of paranormal activity is the Hotel Monteleone, a luxurious landmark in the French Quarter.
