info_outlineHey there magnetic you! Thanks for being here. 🙋♀️
Just wanna let you know that there are a couple of changes to the podcast before you press that play button. 😀
This is the first podcast that will have different music. I know the original music by Kevin MacLeod is awesome, and I can't thank him enough for its use! However, when thinking about my podcast, I can see now how it's growing and developing. And after speaking with some listeners, I realized something important.
When I first put my podcast up, it was a bit of an experiment. After the first 56 episodes, there's definitely a lot more of me in it, and some listeners might not even know who I am! So I created a clever opening with a bit of an explainer. I hope you enjoy it. That being said, from now on, I'll include it at the beginning of each episode. If you don't want to listen to it, then you can fast forward to 1:07 to skip past the part about me and start listening to part that's especially for you each and every week.
Now for this episode. Well, it's exactly what the title says. If you've listened to a few of these, you might be able to catch on that I love old tv shows. Part of the charm is that there's something about them that makes me feel like it's all gonna be okay no matter what else is going on. There's a certain comfort in visiting, or depending on the show, re-visiting your favorites. I don't know about you, but it's a bit like seeing old friends for me. And who couldn't use a bit more of that right now?
But with all the things that might seem a bit cheesy or corny to some, the creators did inject some good lessons into the better shows. They did it in the way that would make the most sense to people at the time, of course, but most of these lessons are timeless. And with my one-track mind focusing on how the universe works ( I'm a bit obsessed with learning all I can about it), I can see definite ways that some of those lessons fit in with universal principles.
Of course, the Donna Reed Show is a classic for all-time depicting how a normal, suburban mom in the late 1950s-early 1960s made the best of life and raised her family. It's funny, endearing, and I love that the main character, while not too aggressive, is a little bit more assertive than other depictions of homemakers during that time. If you love this show, we're already instant friends!
Listen now to find out what I learned about harmony straight from the character Donna Stone.
