That's precisely what happened after a recent recording of the podcast with Speedboat photographer Tom Leigh and videographer Carter Bahde. The long running event brings tens of thousands of people to the town of Lake Havasu City, AZ to experience all of the festivities, including the world famous Street Party on downtown McCulloch Blvd., the exciting Poker Run and the high speed, high adrenaline Shugrue's Shootout that showcases some of the fastest boats in the country.
Ticknor, along with his partner, Jim Russell, has elevated Desert Storm to unprecedented proportions and has just teamed up with the largest unsanctioned race in the country, the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, to become a joint Shootout circuit where particpants that run both could be crowned a National title.
In addtion, local super entusiasts and reigning 'King and Queen of the Desert,' Tim Jones with daughter Amanda, along with previous 'Queen,' matriarch Miranda have offered a prize purse of $20,000, to be distributed across several designated classes, and the new Jones Family Cup.
