How Johnny Cash is that?” — Emily, 14 Days Since Uterus Eviction Day >>> SUPPORT THE SHOW <<< In This Episode: We start the episode off talking about vocal fry, bad podcast reviews, and how the podcast deals with complaints of women’s voices. “Hey, hey, hey, hey, It's okay if we didn't hit our goals every single month. We're probably not going to hit it next month when we're not having a regular amount of income come in. And that's okay because we planned for it. We gave ourselves a cushion. We were able to create that space that we needed to heal our bodies, to be able to come back. “Now is not the time to freak out. You get shaken and shaken and shaken throughout the day. Unless you have some way of getting that energy out, your can is going to explode. Somebody is going to pull that tab thinking that they're just going to get a nice friendly soda version of you, but they get the explosion instead. A lot of times, it's the people we love. That's Hysterical! Now, Get Out! | My Adenomyosis, Hysterectomy and Recovery Journey

“The person hosting the event asked me, Why should somebody start a podcast? My answer was to help. To help. If your voice, if your brain, if your story, especially, can help somebody else, If you can make people laugh, if you can give somebody knowledge that they didn't have before, if you can keep someone company in the loneliest moments of their lives, which was how I found podcasts, if you're an introvert and you want to try playing an extrovert's game for a while in order to help yourself, if you're helping an organization you care very much about, if you're helping spread awareness, if...

In This Episode:

  • Whew! It’s a frustrating start to the episode. The stress of the upcoming hysterectomy is coming out.

  • After a rough morning of video game system troubleshooting gone wrong, the idea of adding more to the pile of stuff already going on is not the last thing I want

  • I keep toying with the idea of making a non-explicit version of the podcast where I bleep out the swears, but this one would just be one long bleeeeeep I think!

  • There’s so much vying for my attention in the weeks leading up to surgery that I’m having trouble juggling it all.

  • Learn my favorite method of organizing and prioritizing what I need to do, which President Eisenhower supposedly used — categorizing tasks as Urgent-Important; Urgent-Not Important, Not Urgent-Important, and Not Urgent-Not Important

  • If you need a reminder to count the good things you did for yourself today, consider this your nudge! And if you can’t think of anything, is there something right now you can do quickly for yourself? Take your vitamins? Get a glass of water? Go for a walk?

  • And don’t forget to show yourself grace (talking to me too, here)

  • Tara Brach’s Podcast and Radical Acceptance Book are favorites in my mental health toolbox.

  • Also, yay! I made an appointment with my therapist!
