info_outlineAdopting a child is one of the most beautiful and selfless acts one can do. Those who open their door to a child in need of a loving and welcoming home are often applauded and admired. There's so much beauty in growing one's family, but through adoption there is also heartbreak. In order to be adopted, a child must lose their parents one way or another, at no fault of their own. Even at infancy, when babies are placed for adoption, trauma is experienced when separated from their biological mother. We must acknowledge the devastation and heartbreak from which the beauty of adoption comes because more often than not, adopted children become curious about how their life started and where their true identity lies. Questions about identity can arise and this is where Jackie Darby and Aixa De Lopez come into play. As an adoptee who had been previously abandoned in a garbage dump and left for dead, Jackie knew she wanted to pour into the adoption community. She linked up with Aixa De Lopez, an adoptive mother and friend, to partner in authoring and illustrating a book titled "Whose Am I?" In this episode, Jackie and Aixa share their testimonies, advice surrounding adoption, dispel the myth that abortion is a better option than adoption and much more.
