Let me introduce you to the wonderful Lou Hotchkiss-Knives walks an eclectic path where country Witchcraft, Thelema, History, feminism, music and writing intersect with Babalon devotional practices.
She is French and she moved to the UK in 1999 to work for the Alliance Française and was initiated into a magickal circle in Torquay, Devon, before joining her own coven of like-minded witches.
Lou started her public speaker journey giving talks on Magick and historical topics at events organised by the Dolmen Grove.
Emboldened by the kindness and approval of Pr Ronald Hutton, and with the support of Veneficia Publishing’s fabulous Diane Narraway, she began her career as an author.
Her work on Babalon has been featured in several occult anthologies and journals, including Women of Babalon (Black Moon Publishings), and the Eloquent Blood by Manon Hendeborg White (Oxford University Press).
A self-confessed incorrigible scribbler, she has also contributed to various fiction, poetry and punk publications for Veneficia Publishings, The Cauldron, The Gloucestershire Poetry Society, punk zine Slutcake and the Dolmen Grove Chronicles.
In her free time, when she’s not volunteering in the local graveyard, she performs with her noise-punk band Wags to Wytches and her new side project Orphan Emily.
